I run a 14.5/18 on my blaster and it works very well for the riding I do with it! Also if you toss the pipe and head on you have all the key stuff done, Pipe, head, prop your laughing!:beerchug:

Depends what you wanna spend, and what you ride.
For surf riding on a budget, I've always liked the Skat big hub 13/16.
You can buy them CHEAP used, and for surf IMO they work great.
If you are patient, you can get them for $50 used. 1/2 hour later your in business.

I have run pretty much every prop out there and in a stock pump, the hooker props were the best. Call Dave, tell him what you have for mods and he will get you straight. All the top spec blasters at Nationals run hookers.

Basically:
Stock 9/15
Slight mods 10/16
Full spec with 62T cases 11/17

Thanks i'll give them a shout. I want the blaster to stick round the turns like s*** to a hairy arse! any recomendations as to handling mods? you guys seem to be in the know when it comes to racing.

Cheers

Getting a blaster to stick in the turns is all about foot placement and weighting. When making a turn, you have to weight the outside corner hard to make a blaster bite. It is just a technique that takes time to master. A good intake and ride plate will help as well. I run the worx SJ intake and a protec plate. I have run the JD plate and intake as well. The JD intake has more braking effect, but I am partial to the worx. The JD plate, well, I don't like them, but there are a lot of guys who do. The Shredmaster intake/rideplate combo is good too, but if you don't weight the outside with that set up, you will spin sure as chit.

Hope this helps,
Scottie

Impro's has been hard to get a hold of lately. Not sure what Dave is upto.

I have left him two messages. I have tried to complete my order online but no luck with the site. Won't go past step 5 or 6

I've had trouble getting ahold of them in the past too. Just keep trying, they'll pick up eventually. Maybe one day they'll change they're answering machine greeting too. Its been a new year for over a year. lol.

Are they using TBM pump cones ?? Or are you saying that they run the hooker only ???

In Spec they are running just the hooker! Its a large hub set back impeller. Which increases efficiency. Aftermarket pump cones and stuffers are not legal :(

Awesome for bottom end! If your looking for more top speed you would want a Skat super slimline.

I used a RIVA at Nationals this year because I lent my pro tec to a buddy. They seem to handle pretty close to the protec.

Scottie

I use the riva groovy. I like it. I bought a JD and ended up putting the Riva back on. I thought JD was the best for waves and carving but I kept spining out.

I suppose at the end of the day its down to what feels best for you, i have the chance now of both jd and riva groovy plates so i think i'll buy them both and then i can see for myself what works best. As for prop well im going to run my solas for the mo then once i finalise all the engine mods i'll give impros a shout.

Cheers for all the replys lads.

The JD plate has a concave that sucks the rear of the ski down, in turn, causing the nose to ride higher. The problem with that is, to get a blaster to really bite in a turn, you want the nose down. That is why so many people have spinning issues with the JD. You can washer shim it to help, but that kind of goes against the reasoning for the concave in the first place. I can see how it would be great for freeriding, but for racing, not for me. Just my opinion.

hey Scottie, what do you think about the worx plate for spec? I've been using one but haven't gotten to try many plates.
