couple snowmobiling pics from this weekend

funny you ask i was thinking the same thing. Parts for skis are rediculously expensive compared to sleds, 600 bucks for a used ski pipe. 250-300 for used sled pipe. but there is a lot more to go wrong on sleds. suspension and clutches for example. I didnt spend a dime fixing my ski last year, and I usually spend about 500 bucks fixing my sled every year. Another thing is re-sale value, holy crap does stuff in the ski industry hold value. my sled was I think ten grand new in 2005, I've put a lot of money into it and now its worth 4500 today. plus all the gear for sleds pants $400, ABS backpack $800, boots $189, helmet $99. and then the diesel and trailer to haul the sleds to the mountain 3 hours away. I got a free trailer and we use my buddys little toyota pickup to haul our skis up river 30 miles.

yeah I think sleds are

i´m sorry snakersj. you wear a backpac for 800 but a helmet for 99. feels like you would like to protect your head more than that?

what sport costs more, skis or sleds?

Sleds are a lot more work and maintenance for sure.

Thanks for sharing the pics man. I have been riding sleds over 20 years, but never been out riding like that in the mountains. Stuck in the flat lands and groomed trails. I am probably going to Utah skiing in late Feb. I might have to try to find a place to rent a sled.
