trying to get into the game

layslow let me know if you want o ride i have a dry suit. (not when is 20 out high 40's will work)

I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

I wanted a ski that the engine wasnt touched, too many people "think" they know what they are doing nowadays. as for fiberglass work and wet foam, I was planning on having to refoam eventually. Weather it be factory or modified hull there is no way of telling if the foam is wet when its all closed up.

thats sounds like a pretty good deal. In the NY area I dont seem to find/see any superjets. they stopped selling them due to emissions i believe, so there arent any new ones. Most people think they stopped making stand-up ski's many years ago since nobodies seen any on the water. Last stand up ski I saw was in 2002 when I was working the docks in my town. That was a one time thing and I have lived by the water here my whole life. so good deals are hard to come by in the immediate area. But I know they are out there. I have seen a few since i bought mine. I believe I got what I paid for, not a steal but didnt lose my shirt. If your buddy parts out his ski let us know! lol.

this was my worry too when i first started getting into skis...its a good worry to have, but even if the stuff has been setup wrong, it is still muchhh cheaper to rebuild something than to start from scratch.

that being said, if you want the experience of learning how the motor works, being able to (start to) learn how to fix some simple problems, buying stock and building up is a great way to learn (just do nottttt rush when you're doing things...rushing to get something done never ends pretty).

and on a side note...unless you've refoamed before...don't waste your time. it is a pita...and its just gonna get wet again. drill holes and just drain it after you're done riding.

i just bought a SN in which the guy said he defoamed and returfed his ski last year...i actually found the thread where he shjowed all the work he did! i drilled thru the bulkhead to tap for dual cooling and trim, and it started dripping out water....the brand new foam was soaked.

if you do decide to defoam....do polystyrene....then read and read and read and read up before you do it.

yup, did plenty of research on foaming already. deff looks like a pita. projects and learning new things are my way of life. You couldnt even imagine the amount of things/projects I have my hands in. lol. Hell I took a job that was more work and no pay change just to learn some new things.

lol i always mess it up:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime

Very nice truck... I had an 88' blazer that I started and never finished lol, I had to many things going on when I started it.

Right now though I'm looking for a 67-72 C10. I would love to tow the ski's with a bagged old school C10.

hey if you are interested in this one let me know

haha, thats pretty cool. I thought about taking the bagged tacoma to go pick up my superjet but decided against it since it would have been a 4 hour ride back, and I dont have a cover over the notch or the tires.
