flywheel on 701 -vs-760 (removal, timing, etc)

I am in the middle of removing the flywheel off a Yamaha WaveBlaste II 760 and I need a little help.

Now on the 701, the stator is behind the flywheel and I know how to remove and install the 701 flywheel.

You can also adjust the static timing on the 701 by moving the stator plate counterclockwise to the fixed tic mark a degree or two.

On the 760 I was surprised when I removed the flywheel and saw the stator componets mounted to the cover (in front of the flywheel instead of behind it like the 701).

1) Is there nothing behind the 760 flywheel? (I have not removed it yet)

2) Not that I am going to do it....but if I wanted to can you adjust the static timing on a 760 like a 701? I cannot see how that is accomplished.

I really just want to remove the flywheel on the 760 to have in lightend...but I am interested in how the timing is set. It's easy on a 701...not so obvious on a 760.

Thanks in advance for your help

760 with a cover mounted stator? I thought only the kawi's did that on their 750 and 800. The crankshafts and cases should be interchangeable between a 760 and 701... something is fishy.

Aren't the 760 cases just 62t cases though? or is one of those funky numbers like 64u or something?

yep they're the same as the 62t for the most part.

You probably need an offset woodruff key to adjust the timing on the 760.

I don't remember there being anything behind the flywheel.
