smoke comes out carbs

i am having some trouble with my 760, it starts within a second of pushing the button but it doesn't want to really scream then when it is in the water, no matter how much throttle you give it it stays at the same speed. which is normally an 1/8 throttle. the reeds are fine. what could my problem be? also smoke seems to fill up the manifold when ever i pull the throttle all the way in.. :frown: <---thats how i feel.

i do. could it be just the high speed filter in one carb is clogged? i am am going to pull the carbs tonight and check it out. does any one have the link to rebuild the carb? i used to have it but my computer crashed

What!!!.... I thought you said the reeds are fine in the first post??? :scratchchin:

Look for bent or broken reed petals.

Take them off and hold them up to a light. If you can see light shining through the sealing area they are defective.

ohhh!!! i took the reeds out twice now and the pedals are slightly open. like one sixteenth of an inch. how bent is bent?? i can see they are open a little bit. it starts right up. just wont scream!

i thought they were fine becaus they weren't broken.... sorry im am used to the POS 550 PP

Not a big deal it's just that a reed is a check valve so when you said smoke was coming out of the Carb. the first thing that comes to mind is the reed's that is the most common issue so when you mentioned the reed's were fine everyone that was trying to help you ruled that out, lol no big deal.
