Custom/Hybrid Factory B head pipe VS 750 head pipe

Witch one is better. I looked at the Factory web site and the Kawasaki 650,750, 800, and the yamaha 650 use the same head pipe. So I was just wondering if the "B" pipe is that much better then the other ones?

JCC568 (or something like that) ran into this problem and we were discussing it the other day. The 750/701 head pipes are virtually the same inside but they have a different twist to accomodate the different engine/hull configurations. Basically, when the pipes are bolted up to the same manifold, the 750 head pipe points outboard about 30° more than the 701 head pipe. This alone makes it almost impossible to run it in a SJ hull without some kind of modification.

Kawi head pipe also only has 2 tuning screws. The bottom pisses all the time. The previous owner of mine inserted a screw from the inside on the lower port. It no longer functions at all.

Later this week, my 750 will be completely torn apart. I also have a 61x motor sitting here I can mount my SJ B pipe to and compare them. Also swap back and forth and see what's up.

Probably be toward the end of the week though.

Pretty sure the 2 tuning screws was only on some and not all.

They are the exact same. The twist diff is in the mani-not the head pipe. the kawi flange is thicker than the yami flange-thats it.

Figured the later ones went to the newer style, but have never confirmed it.

I've read on here that Factory never made a 'B' pipe for a Kawi, but I don't know.

People tend to call the 2 screw one an 'A' pipe. I've only ever seen them on Kawis and mix and match setups. Though it wouldn't surprise me if some older squares had the 2 screw head pipe too.

Wonder if Factory would give me a break down of what was made when if I called?

*Edit* Blowsion sells an adapter plate so you can use a 'B' pipe on your SX-R. If they made a 'B' pipe for the SX-R, why would they need a conversion plate?

Blowsion also sells an SX-R wet pipe, and the SX/SXI pipe, but only call the Yamaha pipe a 'B' pipe.

I'll try to double check the twist tomorrow but I'm almost positive I was using reference points that were independent of the manifold.

I talked to FP in the past, and they said don't use the word "B" for a kawi, wet only. Mine has 3 screws on it. And blowsion said the only reason to use the adapter is if you already had a B and wanted to use it on the Kawi

The only reason I am asking is because I have a the tail pipe for a 750 wet pipe and I am just trying to figure out witch head pipe I am going to get.
