Anyone use an inversion table?

i work in construction and used to get a soar back, i never checked out the real problem if it is a slipped disc or what not, but i did find that working out on my bowflex has completly fixed my back. i do all sorts of exercise but there are a bunch for my back. at first it hurt to even try them but after doing it for a couple months and streching before hand, it made my back solid. i am not about going to a chiro and have him tell me to come back again and again, i think if your wife doesn't work out much then she may have a weak back, the way i fixed mine was to excercise it. this may not be good advise for your wifes back but is my 2 cents.

many time building up the muscles surrounding the bad area can help, my orthopedic surgeon believes in that over surgery. Last time my knee (2 surgeries already) acted up he put me in agressive therapy to build up the muscles. The reason is the muscles will help support the area.

The one I found on craigslist was sold out from under me, so just bought a new one off Amazon for $150 with excellent reviews. We should have it next week I think.

I am willing to bet she needs hip flexor stretching, glute activation and strengthening, and core stability exercises(front plank, side plank) to keep the pain away. Whenever a muscle gets weak(the butt is a good example because it is weak in most individuals), another muscle picks up the slack(the back and hamstrings).

It doesn't happen overnight with therapy, but over the course of a month or two, the pain gets less and less. Also, lots of walking with the arms swinging shoulder level helps reduce the pressure on the spine!!!

I know wrestlers who swear by Inversion tables. I have went to chiropractic my whole life and I know it keeps me going. Sometimes I will feel kind of "locked up", then I go see my chiropractor and wham I'm wide open again, plus I always feel like I can breath better or blood is flowing better..

I always laugh at people who say bad things about chiropractic, but then talk about back surgery, they walking around bent over saying "I don't trust those back cracker" and saying old they feel but they are 10 or 15 years younger than I am..

I have 2 inversion tables. One at home and one at work. They work best right b4 bed.
I also see a chiro. I was going once a week. But only go when really hurting now.
What really worked for me was deep tissue massage. My chiro would adjust me, but my muscles were so tight that it would pop right back out. He sent me to a massage theropist, (not a pleasant massage) but it really worked. She taught me some streaching excersizes that I do whenever I feel it coming on, and I havn't been to the chiro in 6 months.
Have not used the table in 6 months either.

yeah it helped me too, i think alot of people are just out of shape and would rather medicate and goto a chiro than to actually get in shape.
That's a pretty broad generalization. It really depends on what the problem is. Chiro's can be a blessing when it comes to pain relief. There are some kooks out there, but there are also some good ones. Mine lost my business by sending me to the massage theropist. So, he's obviously about more than money.
And I am one of those who refuses to actually get in shape!lol

yeah i know, people get in car accidents and screw up their backs and have severe pain, but you gotta admit there are way more people that complain about pain and would rather take the easy way out. i know chiro can "fix" stuff and maybe i will need one too someday but until then i will try and stay in the best shape i can. How many fat people do you hear complain about problems with whatever, all i think about is get in shape and then see if the problem persists, if it does go seek help. too much lazy people wasting time and money.

Just happened to randomly see this post. I use one of these tables too. I think they're awesome! I'm only 28 but have had back problems from being dumb and lifting with my back all my life. If I get enough motivation to get on the table 3-4 times a week for a few weeks, my back will be fine until I do something dumb again. The table is excellent for crunches too. Maybe your wife will have a nice sexy set of abs after a few months.

I've only gone completely inverted once and it's not comfortable at all. Since you're getting a new table, the best advice I can give is read the directions on how to use it. Follow the simple rules and you'll be good. I've had my table for about 2 years and I don't use it that much but I wouldn't get rid of it.

I read a story about a surfer who broke a vert in his back and didn't even know till a year later... the doc told him his back being so strong kept everything in line...
