Life jackets

Any recommendations?

I was looking at neoprene Jet pilot ones. I'm guessing those are a pretty good brand. I think it is a must to be USCG approved. Thanks:Banane09:

Honestly I don't know. I'm 6'3" and thin...not like a tooth-pick but I definitely don't have a 6-pack. lol.

So I guess Large or Extra Large???

i dont like neoprene ones either
it is definately another one of those personal taste things

i definately use USCG approved, one less hassel on the water, and yes, we have been checked in the past, go figure asked to take the jacket off in the water

dont forget your sound device too, aka whistle, i try to keep two on hand, as sometimes they break or fall off

as far as size... all trial and error, each make seemed different
i use a 2xl or 3xl, however i think in body glove i can use the XL size

personally i hate new life jackets... it's like socks, once you wear em in... there perfect

What options are out there but neoprene anymore? The old nylon ones would slip up over your head. At least the neoprene ones sorta stick to you.

Most manufacturers have sizing based on chest size. You can get a fabric tape measure about any retail store (wally, target, michaels, etc) and measure your chest around your nipples. Then look on websites and check your measurement against their sizing chart.

But best way is go try them on.

I'm not a big fan of neoprene life jackets either. They feel awesome but once you start moving around they're really hot...

I always swore by paddling vests because they're small and allow maximum movement and flexibility. I still like them but if you start pancaking, the additional skin surface that the vest doesn't cover gets slapped and that kinda sucks.
