66e engine

Hi all...Im thinking of putting a gp800 engine into a round nose superjet.
I have a few questions that you maybe able to help with.
Can you bore and resleeve the 800? I read somewhere on here about big bore sleeves and pistons?
Where or who makes them?
If i went bigger bore would i still need to nicksell the bore?
Also is someone making an adaptor for the b pipe manifold?
Any other advice would be much appreciated as im wanting to build a nice reliable freeride boat with plenty of hp and as ive got a gp800 engine sitting in my shed that needs a new clyinder liner i thought i could maybe chuck it together and put it in my ski[with just a bit of extra work lol]
Thanks

its alot of work but is doable
yes you can bb the 800 cylinders i did mine last nov and replated
800 cc is a 80 mm bore
927 cc is a 87 mm bore
you can get 87mm pistons from group k
currently i think the only pipe for the 66e in a sj is wdk wet pipe
it uses no waterbox and easily will back flow and flood the motor
there has been several rumors of b pipe and dry pipe for the 66e in a sj but nothing solid
do a search there are a few 66e sj builds

Since you're in New Zealand, I wouldn't even consider using Waterdawg as a source (maybe, only maybe if you lived within 2-3 hours of the guy). You might look at some of the Japanese companies if you're dead set on the 66E.

My personal preference, I'd go with a DASA or Team Scream billet big bore stroker. DASA/SB Products can get you up to a 16mm stroker now in billet cases.

jett , he already has a 66e motor why not drop it in
ive seen peeps selling wdk parts so he doesnt need to deal w jeff
i havent had any bad exp w jeff or wdk
some have im not tring to get into that
im sure some will say dont buy from wdk ....dont buy used from other great sellers on the forum...
save $ save headake ect...
riverrat has a complete 927 for sale
the 66e has a 10 mm stroke over the 61x crank and is stock

If you notice, I said "I wouldn't" and "my personal preference". You have your's, I have mine.

Do it, buy Waterdawg's parts second hand, you will like it.
The B pipe setup seems to be as much of a myth as the Waterdawg dry pipe, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Thanks guys...Im pretty handy in the workshop plus i know a few engineers so between us all im pretty sure we can get it sorted. Can i use gp1200r sleeves and pistons?

The GP800 and 1200 motors do not use sleeves in stock form, the cylinders can be modified to use sleeves but plated cylinders are better. You can use the 1200R cylinders on 800 cases though.

So could i bore the 800 out to take 1200 pistons and get it replated?

The 1200 and 800 share the same pistons and cylinders only difference is the 1200 has 3 (~400cc) cylinders and the 800 has 2 so you will not gain any displacement by putting the 1200 cylinders on the 800 cases. You can put the 1300R cylinders on your motor to gain some cheap and easy displacement or you can bore and replate your 800 cylinders. I think the 800 cylinders can be bored as far out as ~950cc but am not sure.

Thanks for all your input...ive just found some big bore 1200 clyinders on trademe over here so ive ask the guy which pistons there run. If there dont work out i might look at the option of boring and replating to run 1300 pistons if thats doable?.Als if someone has any pics of what they did to mount a b pipe would be great.

Things are coming along nicely on the sj800 build. Got the bed plate sorted and just finishing up the adapotor plate for the b pipe. Im going to be running it pretty stock to start with. The b pipe and 46sbn carbs are the only mod at the moment.

Can anyone help out with some jetting specs to start off with?

Thanks

you can't use an adapter plate to mount a b-pipe to a 66e in a superjet in any reasonable way.

you can't make up the width difference between exhaust ports before you'll push the head pipe into the side of the ski.

Yea its looking pretty dam close but i think ive got it sorted...I may end up having to make a new header as you did but im going to give my plate a try first.

The motto in my shed is " We do it nice cause we do it twice" lol

What carbs did you end up running?

hey tofa ive got a gp800 ski running dry pipes and 48m full spec carbs. im going to be playing with the jetting next week hopfully so ill keep you up dated on that.

the capt is making noises about coming down here for a ride one weekend , you should come down as well ive got a x2 for you to ride buddy lol
