No X-games and why Jetskiing won't Make T.V.

and its true...........its all about carnage. and its even said in that x-games vid that some one posted a while ago. what steven murray said " the fans come for the crashes" and its true........sucks cuz now hes paralized, and the fans dont care.

id say we ARE more entertaining in that articles point of view. we go big, we have the crashes.... if thats what you into watching.......carnage......

im in it for the ride, for the surf/moto blend, to be able to slash a face and try and seek some shelter on my ski, than ride out 35' a huck a backie.

but the surfers dont care about x games and why should they? they have a whole circuit thats got the best riders in the world and is coverd ON fuel tv. which is great, a chanel for the riders.

i think it would be cool to see freeride on Fuel. where the skaters,bmxers, moto, and surfers watch cuz its what there into,its what we are into. not whored out to mass media like mtv and espn.

i believe we are more entertaining, enough for at least for one year at x. surfing aerials are pretty limited and airtime just isnt there. people have never seen jetskis do this kind of stuff and most people dont even know its possible or even been tried, also adding to the mystery and confusion. its so difficult just to ride and turn these things comftorbly, compared to solid surf riding, 20ft backflips and no handed barrel rolls, it doesnt seem possible. sadly it takes someone that rides them to appriciate, being such a niche sport its hard for people to relate. youll get the wow factor but past that all people see is water, and waters not hard. competition setting with tv coverage people would go nuts, im sure there would be broken bones.

so? its a topic that constantly comes up. "Why no x-games?" while not everything this guy says doesnt correlate with skis, a couple points definitely do.

I totally agree with the article, i was talking about the comments other people had made below it.


I think theres no reason we should have a 30min on fuel. Freeriding, contests, big surf, flatwater, and have it all. I mean hell its no different than m-80 its jujst with standups. Has anyone actually put effort into talking to fuel or maybe getting something together to present to them. I mean everybody talks about this all the ttime and wants to do it. Lets do it!:headbang:

That was a great article. It is true as someone mentioned, Surfing doesn't need to be ni the X-games. It has an appeal all its own and it is the grandfather of all board sports also the hardest to master IMO. Every year I disike the X-games more than the year before. It's gotten played out and its been dying a slow death for years. What jetskiing needs right now is more grassroots effort. More local standup rider groups, a welcoming attitude towards newcomers, lots of freeride events and a "I don't give a :):):):) attitude about the X-games" attitude. Being in the X-games will not guarantee sufficient airtime or exposure.

To do a jetski show, you would need someone to pony up some money to produce it and then pitch it to Fuel or whoever. I'm surprised that none of the of the jetski video companies stepped up to that.

who gives a :):):):)? who whats every punk ass kid trying to steal your wave and one up you? Its hard enough already when you're competing for the same waves as your friends, surfers, kite boarders, and couchers. How many great wave days are there in a year?

I like this sport the way it is... small.

Id like to see the freeriding version of this as a shirt or sticker...

As I read these comments I think somewhere there is someone planning a comeback for street luge.Orthopedist and X-games Luge racer hits hay bail and breaks leg.LOL

I like this sport the way it is... small.

Military base near you? Sorry could'nt resist.We get to ride with the tow in / tow at people.It's not a problem as long as you can hold your own on the wave.

military base? I don't get it.

legally we're not alowed near kite boarders or surfers and the surfers like it that way. they come near us and we're supposed to leave. In florida most beaches are nice and there are swim zones there, all jetties have surfers. All we have are inlets and islands. Besides, I'm no glory hound. I don't need people to watch me ride.

No swimmers or kiters.Oceanside is in front of camp pendelton military base.Sometimes the navy seals are doing a swim parallel to shore and they run you north up the beach.Everyone's a glory hound as they post up the vid's and the pic's saying look at me on this fine site.

So what? Whats wrong with wanting a bit of glory? I mean we all want to be noticed at one point or another. So whats wrong with wanting to do what we love for some attention?

Not dogging.Wave demon said he was not a glory hound.Hello.Wave demon is a glory hound like all the rest of us x-members.Your a member here because you love to ride,work on ski's and improve your riding and this is the place to share it.
