What states are "friendly" about registration??

I need to be careful about how I word this so no one gets confused and thinks I am doing something illegal.

Here is the :):):):)uation: I bought a Superjet and thought I got everything I needed to title it in Texas. It turns out the title I got is "non-negotiable" because there was a lien on the ski. I got a signed lien release too, but Texas says the form is too old and won't accept it. Their "solution" is impossible because I can't located the owner of record (this title/lien is dated 1993!).

In past times I found a solution for this in the WONDERFUL state of Georgia. They allowed jet ski (and boat) registration without a rectal exam. I basically sold the skis to my friend Katie who lives in Georgia. She registered them and then I was able to get a new Texas title by presenting my proof of Gerogia registration and an application signed by me and Katie.

Well over the Winter Georgia tightened up their PWC laws and no longer allows such simple registrations. So, if you live in a state that does PWC registration without title and you can get a registration with just a signed bill-of-sale, and you would be possibly willing to help me register a Superjet (or two) please shoot me a PM.

I am not asking anyone to do anything against the laws of your state. There are actual companies that are willing to do this service for several hundred dollars, about what this SN SJ is worth.

Thanks,

Aaron

Here in Nc all you need as notorized bill of sale and $60 and you got yourself a registered jet ski

When i bought my fx1 a few months (in georgia) ago i seem to recall only needing a bill of sale and the previous registration. Then again it already was on file so that may be why. Do you have a previous registration card?

In Alabama if you can produce a bill of sale on the back of a Waffle house napkin ,signed by what looks to be two different people you are golden.

depends on who your dealing with around here. i had a hateful beotch that tried everything to keep me from getting a tag for my sj. called the previous owners, and state.

Up here in WA, if you take in the VIN and don't have title or even bill of sale, they will give you a paper to fill out and send to the dept of lic and they will send back a paper saying who previous owner was. Then you take that back to licensing agent and they will give you another piece of paper. That gets sent to the original owner via registered mail. If nothing comes back in 15 days you will get registration but no title for 3 years. It can still be sold or transfered with in the period, just w/o title. If it does come back signed, you get the title like you normally would.
