i can only land barrel rolls plate to plate when i have a decent boat wake. flat water back flips are out of the question.

the hull is a CF reinforced stock RN SJ (heavier than stock), with a very responsive lamey 771 no powervalves, 185 psi 93 oct, MSD enhancer, novi-tec single 48mm, TBM lightweight flywheel, stock pump, impros 10/16. worx intake grate + top loader + ride plate. lowered bracket, -2 pole, footholds, etc...

What would you do next for more height/easier spin out of the (flat) water? domes/race gas, stroker crank, power valves, total loss, swap to a light hull, something else? what's the best bang for the buck for the next mod?

help quick, post count = age. i only have a couple good years left!

Team scream is A++. But I can't go buy a whole new motor or new ski... for the next individual mod, what should it be???

I'd suggest a 4 or 5mm stroker crank. Displacement for displacement you get more torque from the stroker crank than going big bore (don't know how noticeable it is, but the physics don't lie).

If you go with a 4mm stroker, you can use your existing cylinder. Basically you'll pay for the crank and some port work. You may be able to get away with a stock cylinder on the 5mm stroke too.

Talk to Jetworks and Team Scream to see what they suggest that falls within your budget.

Total loss without a doubt. Pick up a used one for a few hundred bucks and be amazed at the massive power increase. As long as you don't mind hooking up a charger every other ride, you'll never want to use any other ignition.

Can you add the Powervalves to your lamey? I'm not that familiar with them but any ski I've ridden with powervalves has incredible bottom end.

You could try a lightweight charging flywheel for a lot cheaper and less complicated than a Total loss system. Also, what do you have for pump mods?

There are also many ways to lighten a stock hull and offset the weight of reinforcing that were actually discussed in a recent thread.

You say you can't get a new engine but some of the mods you suggested were getting close in price to the Team Scream power, (ie; CF Hull). Selling/trading your current setup to get you closer to the goal would help. Start adding up some of the other mods and it wouldn't take too long to get to $2900.

Then there's always practice, practice, practice... lol

yes, i do need to work on the setup wake, practice will help a bit, but i'm not bad either.

stock pump, 10/16 hooker prop.

i have a TBM lightweight flywheel, just edited 1st post... the 771 lamey motor is new, only 6 tanks of gas through it, so this is my new motor. the other mods have been done over the years, i'm the orig owner of this 2000 superjet. so $$ over time isn't as bad as dropping a chunk of change at once, well i guess the lamey motor was a lot of change for this year.

Your powerplant sounds great, maybe a lightweight and shortened hull may be the next step. They do come up for sale once in a while but they are not cheap. RadRat just sold a couple nice hulls for a pretty fair price.

Are you running any kind of trim system? I just installed an SE Trim but haven't had a chance to try it out yet so I'm not sure if it would help you with anything you're trying.

I would like to help, but it seems you are missing many items in your setup in both the boat and the motor.

First off, why no Power Valves?

Brian

He decided to keep it simple but keep the option to add them in the future.

Personally, I think a lightweight hull beats every other option. He can do alot with his powerplant with a 50 lbs lighter hull

Still Fat....
to help that low end response, why not try the 9-15 hooker prop
cheap, easy fast install to do (compared to a new cylinder/porting etc)
running tighter domes will make you feel like you have a crisper throttle response, kinda of like a stronger wind up
to me these things are all trial and error, as your style, over all weight and setup all come into play

strokers and big bores are awesome too
do you have a big bore nozzle and freestyle tailcone as well, they wont add a tremendous amount of power, but could be that quick easy little gadget to make you soar

So far looks like a lightweight hull is the winner. makes sense.

questions:
do the A/M hulls accept all parts donated off of a stock RN SJ? is everything ready to bolt right on with good fitment or does it feel like you're starting from scratch and have to line things up and drill your own holes all over the place?
would i be in over my head if all i have is a toolbox with hand tools and a garage floor?

how much weight can i take out of the stock hull if i try to lighten it up? going to check out the thread posted further up to research.

thanks for all the input so far.

joking of course that my age is my post count as stated in 1st post... i'd be 100 by next week!

An aftermarket hull is mostly plug and play with a RN SJ. Things that you'll want to research a little more carefully are hoods, pole mounts, and gas fill location will obviously have to be changed. You can certainly do it with a garage floor and hand tools. $20 worth of 2x4's, screws, and caster wheels for a homemade stand will make a world of difference over a garage floor though.
