Hi,

Have a 650sx...burnt up the stator ground. Replaced stator, went to hook up the battery again, and noticed the wires burning again. I'm attributing this to a positive touching a negative or ground somewhere. Any suggestions on where to start? i think the wire i started burning up is still good.

i'm looking to get rid of this thing...just need to get it to stop burning up these wires. please help!!!

thanks,
woody

try running an additional ground from your engine to your iggy coil's ground and another from the iggy coils ground to the battery negative.

as i recall, this fixed that problem and prevented it, if it wasnt yet a problem. i could be wrong, but it cant hurt to try it.

this may be a stupid question...i'm not much of a mechanic...but u're talking about the coils on the stator right? so you're saying run another ground from the stator to the motor somewhere behind the flywheel?

if i'm way off can u explain a little more what you're saying sorry...thanks for your help sfl

yeah...the black/yellow stator ground?

i replaced the whole stator...thinking that the neg. ground to the battery from the engine was bad, plugged the battery back in and burnt it up again...i gotta see whats going on with that.

can i just ground the ebox directly to the battery instead of through the wire that goes to the stator? i think this will solve my problems

no...i'm sayin this:

i originally for the first time this season (after replacing the solenoid) fired up my ski. shortly after, the ebox/stator wire melted.

i popped out the stator, seeing that the black/yellow wire was fully melted. i thought it was because my negative engine ground was bad. so i replaced the main engine ground, along with the stator. when i put the motor back together...same thing happened, i burnt up the stator wire again.

just the ground from the ebox to the stator is burnt up. i'm gonna ground the ebox directly to the battery...hopefully this will prevent me from having to replace the stator (again).

Did this ever fix this for you?
