can somebody steer me in the right direction. i have fried 3 RECTIFIER & REGULATOR ASSYs in the past 3 rides. basicly u get one time to start the ski. if you shut it off it will not start again... any help would be greatly appriciated. i cant keep spending $55 to start the ski once.

cant find one. all the ends are covered up, no exposed tips.. im just so confused. it started just one day out of the blue, killed the ski then there i sat for an hr till sombody came by to give me a tow.. pretty much sucked..

it should run without the regulator, rectifier, it just wont charge the battery.

it wont even turn over, but as soon as u replace it fires right up.

you have other issues then.

look at this schematic, its not even in the circuit for the starter.

2 green wires come from your stator, they are generating AC voltage when the flywheel spins.

the regulator/rectifier makes that into DC electricity and goes to the red battery cable.

it should run without the regulator, rectifier, it just wont charge the battery.

2nd that Mine died last summer, would run most the day till I started it one to many times then I have to be towed in, replace it and been good since. Point being seems like your culprit is else where. Follow the wires and see whats going on. Could be down by the stator thats sending the charge to your rectifer.

Flakes would know better, follow his adivce first but the rectifier is probably going to be a victim to the main problem

Have you checked your starter button connections? I have a lot of trouble with my blaster. Hit the green button and nothing happens - unplug and replug connectors, starts right up!

disconnect your black and white wires first ( kill switch) turn your idle down, and see what happens.

also, measure battery voltage before, and after this happens.

maybe its possible there is a failure in your stator windings that kills the rectifiar and then shorts the battery thru the stator plate?

what if i dont have the fuseble link in line will that be a problem?

there is a "fuse" not a fuseable link.

without the fuse, the start button only gets power when the ski is running...

think about that, it doesnt really work.

alright sooo the starting voltage was 11.81 there is a prob, then when u hit the starter it goes to 8.61 still a prob but it magicly cranked over. so i figure start with a new battery then go from there. thanx for all your input FLAKE

charge that battery first, it might be useable, or get another one and charge your current one for a back up.

100% battery should be 12.6-12.7 volts.

anytime you measre less voltage than that on a switch or connector on your ski, you have resistance- a dirty connection.

clean the terminals, the battery cables, the start switch, and the red/brown connectors ( carefully) and you shoudl see some improvement.

but now, why was it killing your regulators? unless it was overheating them trying to charge a battery that had internal issues.

or was it killing the regulators at all? bu me just putting in new ones i would scratch in a new connection.
But here is the new problem sank the ski 2days ago fried the s/s, put a new one in. started right up COOL. so i left it for a couple of hrs. come back, it no starty. WTF.
rip the box out and take it apart i see nothing wrong but it still wont start.
any ideas now?
