What plywood thickness do you guys use? How do you secure it to trailer framing?

What about water rot? Do you leave it as it is or paint it with some outdoor decking paint for protection?

i would use 1" Marine Plywood..not cheap though..just screw it to the trailer frame with stainless screws

i wanted one inch marine plywood, but wasnt gonna pay for it and it was really heavy... was cheaper to me to just use regular 3/4'' ply...wont last forever but cheap to replace.I didnt paint. I used 2.5'' self tappers to secure to frame and some 2x4s underneath and up front for support (and a place to mount the tie-down loops)

ive used it for over a year and its held up well, but ive only launched at a ramp under 10 times...mostly i tote my skifrom the trailer to the water. Not sure how long it would last if it was always in the water but so far so good

One thing you might want to check, in my state (WA), it's illegal to use a boat trailer as a utility trailer. A utility trailer can carry a boat, but not vise/versa. Not saying that you wouldn't get away with it if that were your case too, but it's something to think about.

ridiculous..

hm.... i'm gonna see how it'll work out. plywood will make everything heavier and this trailer is being pulled by my gf's yaris. :)

I'm already pushing the 700 LB recommended limit for the car. Trailer is 300 lbs, and each superjet is 290 lbs.

I think a flat deck trailer will work fine but the ski's are more likely to slide around which will be the only damaging potential. However, if you have plans to possibly use the trailer as a utility trailer, lay some carpet down and roll with it. If it will be a dedicated ski trailer, buy some 2x4's, carpet those and call it a day.

What's wrong with towing standups with a car? It's not cheap, stupid, or redneck and the average 4 banger can easily handle 1000lbs. Now when the guy at the pump was putting $100 in his truck last summer so he could drive only himself to work and back 99% of the time...well...

i know theres nothing wrong with it...but where we ride we almost always have to drive on the sand, and its fun to watch mark hit the beach at 40mph in his accord to make to the water lol

pix of gf to make sure its safe? wouldnt want to overload that poor toyota.

i decided to pick up a flat trailer and haul the ski with it.

metal mesh floor with two carpeted round wood posts bolted to the frame rails. works awesome but its a 4x6 deck. a 5x7 would have been much better. the ski kinda hangs off the back. and its not wide enough to haul two skiis. but the ski is really Low to the ground and easy to launch in shallow ramps. trailer also hauls my ATV & camping gear perfectly when the ski's staying home
