701 cylinder size?

Ok I have a 701 blaster. Completely apart right now. Some how it grenaded a rod bearing. When it did this it sent shrapnel through the cylinder. I know the cylinder has been bored before. Not sure to what size. I measured it like a hack with some calipers and got 3.207 i know i need a bore gauge, which i have access too. If any one can tell me MAX size i can go that would be great. I've got a crank for it I just need to get some cylinder work then pistons. Then back together with motor!!!

Your really don't want to go as big as you can go because then you won't have any bores left if you blow it up.
Just go up to 81.5 or 82. That way you have a couple bores left.
Most guys that do boring will want the pistons before they do the boring.

Thanks

I'm starting to like forums more and more... You guys rock thanks for the help. I don't want to go as big as possible. I am all about kislir method. You know Keep It Stock Let It Rock. But I bought this ski done up over bored and with a factory b pipe and alum water box. The rebuild is going to be fun. The part that scares me is I don't know what cause the crank bearing to explode!!!

Old age! Just worn out, set up for premix if not already...40:1 a good staring point. Your at 81.5mm bore now and shouldn't be a problem to go to 82mm if you don't have any real bad gouges in the cylinder wall, sometimes I can save bores by offset boring by a few thousandths...
