Not impressed with my RRP

Mine has a hole for a spring...and it also sounds to me like you got two of the same side brackets. Hell, who knows...the quality control guy mighta brought in a fat sack the day your stuff was packaged :naughty:

Couple of things to add here, first off the bedplate is mounted the correct way, otherwise the hood brackets won't fit right. 2nd, I had to compress the one breather tube so it would lay flat and the pole would come down far enough. I used a pair water pump pliers to flatten out the back side without deforming the front. 3rd, If you are pissed now, wait till you get to the hood hooks. I had to elongate the mounting holes and use spacing washers to get the hood to tie in correctly and seat properly.

I used a UMI steering kit and everything worked perfect. The Tuff thrust washer just replaces the radius bearing and is all the same dimensions.

The Spring is another animal all together. I found the stock spring too light and the Blowsion one too heavy so I bent the Stocker somewhere in the middle to preload it a bit and I really like it.

The RRP is quite a bit if messing around but no more than other components we use. Mine paid off the first day on the water when I realized that the steering was too long and I was able to shorten it at the lake in a matter of minutes. Next weekend I plan on cutting another inch or two off my tubes, which should be no more than a 1 hr job, what other pole can you do that with?

I'm going to have to get a umi kit and a diffrent turn plate it looks like..the hood hooks installed pretty easy but I just ordered a WCF hood today so we will see how that goes.

I dig having an adjustable pole I should have just waited and gone with an x metal.

my pole fell right together. may be a little high but i wouldnt call it :):):):)ty either. directions arnt the best but its not hard to figure out what goes where. a good pole in my book.

dude, basically all aftermarket parts are gunna required alil wrenching to make them fit. from what i hear these poles are ridiculous but a pain to put in. when i get frustrated doing something on my ski, i usually back off, smoke a bowl, do alil research and go back it. i found when ur working calmer rather than upset it usually goes easier.

there u go, you were just missing that bushing.....get back at it

yes hopefully the bushing fairy will drop by and have a beer with me and bring me the pieces I should of gotten in the first place. Or I could make a call to x metal and see if they have a bushing they could send me.

I seem to be missing that part. Sounds like that's exactly what I need.

If you don't have the bushing, then yeah... the turn plate will rattle around in the handle pole bolt-hole. Don't go with bearings.... get that bushing and you'll love the steering.

And before you bolt it up, make certain you put a drop of red loctite on the nut, or your steering will loosen up in 10 minutes of riding. It might loosen up once after that as it seeds.... so bring a ratchet with you.

Then, if need be ...tighten once more, and after that it'll stay like a well-trained dog.

I'd be a little upset, too, if I dropped over $1k and stuff was missing and/or of poor quality.

when i was looking for my pole, everyone sugested i stay away from that particular steering setup. ended up buying the rrp steering and havent looked back. maybe them guys knew what they were talking about. tip number 2, use red loc-tite on your steering

I can relate. I bought my first Diablo hood and thought-hey, I'll go in the garage and have it on in 20minutes-LOL,LMAO,CUSSING AND THROWING THINGS(including the new hood)LOL

Nothing goes as it is supposed to on a jet ski. If the directions say 10 minutes-they mean 10 days. Pretend the directions are your wife talking. LOL
