kawasaki 550 carb need help

I need someone who knows which carb will fit on a stock 1990 kawasaki stand up. I want to remove the stock round carb and the sylenoid system that came on it and replace it with a modern style carb. Anyone who knows about these please call me and I will buy a carb from you. We tried to get the old one going and no luck. Preferably one that will bolt up to the stock manifold. Thanks Bill 407-590-5534

Only thing to bolt on the stock manifold is another stock carb.

Get yourself a SBN44 and save a ton of headache. Ass Joel had 1 for sale. I think he's called square joel now.

Please help

Any Kawasaki guys have a carbuerator that will bolt up. or if you have a carb with a manifold I need one to get this ski going. Please contact me. Thanks Bill 407-590-5534

your best bet is to get an sbn 44 like ger said.

this will require you to change the intake manifold as well though.

i just had a 550 here i was working on with a bcw intake manifold and 44 sbn carb......it ran much better than the stocker BN junk.

44 SBN

-Spacer plate with oem intake manifold , might still need some grinding on carb screws depending which head you run
- 45 degree Ocedan pro intake manifold

you can get the spacer from northwet. then you can use your stock manifold. then all you need to find is a carb. or try contacting john zigler he has a lot of old school parts.

I have a stock BN44 for a 550. No guarantees about it. I swapped to a SBN44 to ease tuning. It ran good, but started rough. Dunno if that's carb related.

Make an offer on that carb. Shipping's probably about $7.

Here's your first option, a SBN 44 and an aftermarket manifold that will allow the carb to clear the head:

Or you can buy one of these spacers to go between your stock manifold and cylinders to give you the needed clearance to bolt the SBN 44 to the stock manifold:

If you go with the SBN44, you'll need a different flame arrestor because the bolt spacing is wider on the newer style SBN carb

Really? The FA adapter I usedswapped directly over from BN to SBN. Beats me.

The JRE spacers are nice (right ger??) You can get the same thing from Mike @ Northwet Powersports (mentioned above). Mike's a good guy and will take care of you. Supposedly, Mike's father was the innovator of these spacers and JRE's are knock-offs.

Like said before, you will need a spacer for your stock manifold, or an A/M mani. Also, you will need longer bolts for the manifold.

Yes, yes, and yes.

But then it would also depend on the FA adapter whether or not it's a direct swap.

U will need 2 m6x80mm bolts plus 4 or 6 of a different size. Don't remember the size of the top of my head.

Go with the spacer and SBN44. Save yourself a ton of headache. Then modding later on is much easier.
