Porting + Type 4 dry pipe advice

Hey guys, some friends from the boards recommended that I have my motor ported for some extra power. They recommended Team Scream in Fl. Sounded like a pretty good deal so I gave them a call today, and the guy I spoke with didn’t seem to know to much a about the dry pipe. He said he recommended a B pipe and having it sent to them for some mods along with the motor porting. Sounds real nice, but I don’t think I can spend that much money… B pipe = $700, Team Scream B pipe mods = $300, Team Scream motor porting = $225. So after all is said and done that setup is going to run me at least $1300 with shipping. Then I’ll have to tune it too…

I guess my question is, do any of you guys have a dry pipe and porting? What kind of gains did you see? I have the Factory Type 4 BTW.

The dry pipe is designed for higher RPM operations. A whole lot more maintenance is involved also if using the Dry Pipe for freestyle. The B Pipe works better (opinion carried by many) for freestyle setups.

You would have to jet higher. the pricing you posted is not a bad price.

No tuning required, just a little mixture screw turning. All of our engine packages and setups are proven recipes for performance and all tuning is done as long as you re-jet cabs and follow our recommendations with the install setups...

Well so far the dry pipe has been pretty good for me. I've been running it for 2 seasons. So in order to save myself a lot of money, I'd prefer to keep running it. I guess I just want to know if it is worth it for me to port it with this pipe setup....
