trouble with my sj please help

ok this is the first year that iam going to start doing all of my own work on my skidue to finacail reasons and that my old shop whent out of business, 24-7:grumble: so i need a little help. Here is what i have and what happend 701 ported b pipe rad fly wheel x meatal waterbox v force 2 ada head ect. last year i was kicked of the lake for my ski being to loud so i got rid of the side mount exhuast and put a cap on the one end of the xmetal water box, thats what x meatal told me to do. i was rideing my ski for like a week with no probs except for sometimes when grabed a fist full of the gas it felt it had turbo lag like it had to spool up or clear out but then it would be fine. then the last time i rode it i think that the cap on the water box blew of and was blowing exhust and hot water into the hull and my ski just died. i primed it and it stared agian for a second and that was it. i thought i might have blown my reeds but they r fine. next iam going to check the compresion.

does any one have any idea wahts wrong or have had this problem bfore any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried starting it since? It would suffocate itself with a hull full of fumes but should start with the hood off. Fill us in on what you've tried so far. From what I've read It sounds like it died on the water, you tried the primer a few times with no results then towed it to shore and stuck it on the trailer.

If you've done more you need to let us know. Also if you towed it back at a high rate of speed you could have filled the engine with water doing so, so be careful.

Also how long has it been since this happened?

it did die on the water and i swam the old girl to shore pulled it on the doc took off my hood and tried to star her with no luck. i tried it agian later that week with the same results. also i must add that earlier that week my ground cable from the battery broke and in an acttk of desperation to ride riged a ground to the front of the fly wheel cover not the starter could this also have some thing to do with my problem. it has now ben sitting for a couple of months

Ground's ground.

Doesn't matter where on the engine it is, assuming nothing's there to insulate it like rust or paint.

if the connection there isnt nice and snug though you could be chasing ghosts. faulty grounds can be a pita to diagnose. id make 100% sure you have a GOOD ground before going to much further.

Fix what you know is wrong and go from there. It's not likely the problem but it needs to be fixed anyway so why not eliminate it 100%?

After that, start with the basics and try some new plugs?

After that, answer these questions. Got Spark? Got fuel? Do what you said and check compression. If you have spark, compression and fuel you should have Brap!

Remember, keep this simple first. Give the engine bay a good once over and check everything for tightness.

well i tried to check my compresion and found that theis a click in my e box. upontakeing it aprt i found water in the box and corrsion every where and what looked like a clear jell coating:261: so i will know clean the hol thing up and try again:thinking:

state police on a boat potroll said they had complant all summer and said that my desible level was to high, she was louad enuff that u could hear me on the other side of the lake 4miles away:slap:. aparentlty people didnt apreciate the sound of my baby as much as i did:fing02:

the metal back plate on my msd is rusted and coroded, if that where to go bad would it happen while i was rideing and would it still allow the motor to tri to start when i hit the start button

1st of all, I am gonna call dibs (depending on price) on the waterbox and pm you.

2nd of all, is this a total loss system? If so, grounding the brain to the battery is of the utmost importance.

If it is an MSD enhancer, prepare to buy a new one while you put a oem cdi on it and see if it works.
