KTM maybe?

Didn't you have a Kawasaki 450F?
How did it hold up ? I heard there were some issues with piston breakage. I've promised myself that if I have future issues with the CRF that I will go back to 2 strokes. A buddy has a new YZ 250 that is nice on the track and in the woods. All it needed was a pipe.

nah, ive always had yamahas.. a 250, then a 450f, then a 450f, then a 125

the 125 is the most maintenance work so far! :shhh:

i cant imagine having a bike that wasn't 100% any more. we're so anal about maintenance and grease and everything because we have to be.. every weekend. seriously, whatever bike you buy, plan to take it apart day one and go over every nut and bolt, grease/repack every bearing/linkage, check the chain/sprockets, etc, etc, etc, .. :banghead:

200hrs on a top end??? holy jesus!!!!

Garret, just hold off till you have more cash to devote to it...

That may not happen. It's just not a high priority for me. I want something cheap to play with. I was hoping to find people needing some christmas cash and I could pick up a deal on something to get me through until the water warms up.

Yeah I just saw the hours 25 rides is one thing 200 hours is another run Forrest run ,run like the wind! I do have one question though ,I am pretty good at math and 25 rides = 200 hours = 8 hrs per ride, doesn't seem to likely to me ,this doesn't add up.:sadwavey:

ok.... go take a look at it... it does look clean, but an 8 year old top end is scary to me

but you were willing to spend how much on that stupid electric bike?

come on man.....just wait til you have 2500 and you will have all kinds of choices...

here..how bout this one

this is a great deal!

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I had the extra cash..

we have this "hours" discussion alot at our track. we figure one whole day at the track is about 1.5hours of riding time. and thats for the guys that push themselves to run long motos, otherwise it averages out to less than an hour riding time per day for us.

the best thing to do is just get an hourmeter. they have really sweet ones right now that not only log hours but max rpm, time since rebuild, etc. theyre like $40

I think the guy is probably saying " hey, I spent all day out trail riding with my buds, and I only rode it like 20 or so times... so 200hrs sounds right"

this attitude is what leads me to believe it's NEVER had anything done to it.

Join KTMTalk.com and look in the for sale bike section. Look on craigslist that is where both Mark and I bought our bikes. I even saw some on ebay for pretty cheap as well from dealers. DO NOT buy a KTM without a title. These are street legal bikes and will be hard to sell to another owner without a title. Mark and I both had difficulties with this. Depending on where you ride you could be checked. They check vins at a place we ride, it just is NOT worth it.

KTMs are a great choice and I love mine.

That wasn't electric.....125 4t lightweight. Not going to do that anymore. I decided that I'd have way too much money tied up into "toys" when my priority is to dump some debt and start making headway towards an early retirement on a boat somewhere warm.

$2100 is more that you are willing to spend on this sport?

you're right... it's not for you. you'll have that just in your protective gear.

How much has this "sport" really changed in the last 15 years? I bought an $800 dual sport and a helmet and boots and had a pretty good time for a couple of years with only buying normal wear items such as chain/sprockets etc. I'm sure it wasn't nearly as fun as a brand new 250 2t of the day,but I still had a good time. I'm not trying to spend $800 again, but that's closer to what I'm looking for than a nearly new bike with every possible piece of safety protective gear sold.

the "sport" hasn't changed much. but the tech has changed considerably. then there is inflation.

I'm not trying to be a dick, just stating the facts. Dirtbiking can be expensive. I'm a deal hunter, but my kids have more in their equipment than you are willing to spend on just a bike.

Truth is, if you just buy something cuz it's in your price range, and not because it's not what you really want...you'll never be happy with it and thats when the sport gets REALLY expensive.

I learned the hard way. had a bike because it it was what I could afford and not what I wanted. By the time it was all over I had spent enough money to have bought my dream bike twice, and it STILL wasnt right.

I'm just trying to be realistic here. I'd love to get another person into the sport, But you need to be commited enough to be honest about what you are really after.

I agree with Nick. if you want a bike, get one, but save your money and wait till you can get the right one

this is exactly what happened to my with my WRX....I cheaped up at the end when I should have spent the extra money on an STi..

I have played this game before and now know to just save and buy what you really want...it will save you money in the long run

and you are saying trail tiding is gay???? You have got to be kidding me.

Sunday we rode from 10am till 3:30pm w/ 2 breaks totaling about 30 minutes. You ride 1 hour in a whole day??? That's not worth going out there and getting dirty for...
