im not sure you have much of a choice with that budget unless you get (really) lucky. look for a 94-95 sn with a 701 and go from there\

good luck!!!

ya you wont find a rn for that price easily. im in the same situation though, ive got a 550 and im looking to upgrade, but i have 2500 to spend. nearly everyopne will say get a superjet, just try and get one with a 701

Definitely go with the 701, but in my opinion RN and SN is 90%+ cosmetic difference.
I ride a square but have been on a couple of very nice RN skis. The only difference in the hull I noticed was leaning over carving turns the roundie doesn't seem to catch the nose as fast, which makes sense just looking at it. It wasn't a significant difference to me, might even have been the power of suggestion.
No question about going with 701 or better though. My next $$$ will go to proper footholds and/or mo power (pipe maybe??)

if you are lucky you can get a 701 SN (94-95) ... it really depends on your local market.

if not, a 650 SN is still an improvement over your 550 (that was my upgrade path 15 years ago).

if you look really hard maybe you can find a rn for that price...i got a rn with bpipe for 1300 and my buddy got one for 600$..they are out there but a square can get the job done

Now is a good time to find a SN for cheap. The SN and the RN have the same bottom deck. The top decks are different. I found a cheap SN ($800) and ran it for a while, then got a cheap but -CLEAN- RN hull (also $800) from a guy here on the forums and swapped everything over. So try to get a cheap SN and run it for a summer, then next winter swap everything into a RN hull!

I bought a 90 model square from a guy off of here for $1400 and it has a 701, scoop grate, quadra fin plate, freestyle bars, coffman pipe, milled head, scat impeller, bilge, Nice turf job (runs down rails and on chin pad), 701 cdi, and some reinforcement done. Nice clean ski Im very happy with it:naughty:! Try to find one with some mods.

Do you want a complete ski or do you want to build one? Have an FX1 hull set for Kawi conversion over here. I also know a guy who is looking to get rid of an FX1 minus the engine and electrics for free. If your interested I can ask for you.
