LKN 09, lets get some ideas

Well I've been thinking alot about next years ride and would like to hear from anyone with any ideas. I would still like to have it on Lake Norman, I am thinking about taking to the owner of Stutts marina to see if there is a chance of having it there. For those of you that don't know Stutts, its alot nicer than the other campground. Lets hear it people.

Maybe some real activities, build off, give away/raffle, etc.

Maybe the first thing to discuss is date? late may to early june i though is a great time. Others might have a better idea?

I dont mind winning stuff, but it seems like if we go through the hassle to get sponsors and prizes the turn out will grow. i'm sure a few guys here have all the info we need in order to get in touch with the right person/s.

Maybe go ahead and mark a hotel for the panzys that dont like camping out. not sure if that pushed people away last time, but cerently a possibility.

and i'm all for the special events that were brewed up for the last ride, just ran out of time. so somewhat of a tentative schedule might help.



Stutts all the way!!
For thous that did not know, Stutts was a 06' National surf'n'turf Tour Stop. Very successful event. Unless this gets as big as daytona, i dont think we need to worrie about cramming people in like we did this past 08' LKN Freeride. attached some pictures trying to show the area for the ones that dont know. and a LINK to google maps satellite overhead view.

Right on David, I'm good with the same dates or close to. The person that runs Stutts is a customer/friend of CS so I can deff get that going. Also been thinking of something to do with the LAW... So we can ride in the no wake zones...

thats the beauty of stuts, its out on a pensulia with no docks around, and its praticaly on the main channel. Thou if we wont to set up in the cove just north (the cove with stuts ramp) we might beable to get a permit for a ride zone. though i dont think its needed (prob cost some money). I still agree the water patrol should know we are going to be doing an event here so they get the heads up and not come swarming in like a swat bust on a crack house in downtown LA.

I like what the wavedaze crew is doing, making wavers, doing the safety boat check, holding a basic safety meeting. If we let the lake patrol know we are taking these precautions they wont see the need to "buttin".

I am glad I did not go last year, but I am looking forward to going in 09!

A little birdy told me some cool info, keep in mind that this is not set in stone, but is in the works. Surf and Turf promotions (Mike Young) and us at CS are trying to get a May event together at Stutts Marina. This would accomadate our freeride and racing. Somewhat of a event line up.

Thursday-Freeride/Freestyle
Friday-Poker Run
Saturday-Closed course racing
Sunday-6hr Endurance race

If any of you have ins with any sponsors, all is welcome. Again this is not set in stone.

last year we got booted off early and couldn't stay out of trouble with the neighbors and cops.

Well there has been a race there for three years, and the freeride is part of a much bigger event this time. The Law will be informed and prob there the whole time anyways. I'm telling you this could be biggg!

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't drive up there on a Thursday (Workday) to only get to ride for one day out of the entire weekend. I really don't care about racing or watching races.

I don't think the poker run on Friday will be at the site the whole day. They may leave from there, and end up there, but I see at least two plus days of freeriding. The lake is BIG and I'm sure no one will say Kennay, you can't ride Sat or Sun. There should be enough fun to go around. I know alot of racers that went to Daytona and I'm sure they had a good time, so I imagine some racers will come to hang out and ride with us anyways. Again with the turn out we had at the races the last few years it should be a good time, lots of people.
