That's not Crab. It's Mike Brandt. He did get some silly height.
I have seen him bail out at over 25 feet, and never seen anyone go higher on anything.....exept that one time by Mike Serlin when he broke his leg flat landing a backy.

Crabs will break their shell if not carefull....

for sure
would be my second choice after a 95 xp 800 or 96 xp
or one of the 800 spx's 97 -99

as weedoo said
all the x4 hulls are great for getting air
and are light

the 800 gives it all the power it needs to launch
and is a bullet proof motor

I just do not like the steering config of Sea Doos... They are set up like snomobiles w/ very angled steering.. Yamaha sets there skis up like dirt bikes w/ steering more upright... Other than that, I agree that the XP is a good choice. 96 and up

way back in the see-poo days. only thing I miss about them was those soft landings and cushy seats

96 xp has nothing on the 99 up xpl in terms of EASE in surf jumping, maybe better for wakes but not surf.Chris really proved it

lol that's a trip man
that is exactly my gripe on the 1200

they both kill surf though
pick your poison

let me rephrase my initial question, I am not a novice but I want to get another ski that is stable enough to put new riders on but still be fun for me to ride. i've had a wb1 and there is not one single person i ever tried to put on it that didnt dump it pronto if they didnt have some experience riding. i just dont want to buy another ski for friends and family to ride that will be totally useless to me.

IF DJ OR I ONLY HAD SOME PIX OF OUR BOY RICK
or any of the old timers from cleveland that rode with rick
that would lay this claim null

15-25 feet consistantly in silly lake erie waves and boat wakes
biggest air i have ever seen on a ski on a day to day , routine basis

on a 96 xp
by the time he was done riding and left the sport, that ski was like a sponge

just all weak cracked up gel coat and glass

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
Put a UMI steering and A/M sponsons on a X-4 Sea-poo XP 800 and that is the best "stable" wave jumper.

Why use a XPL? They are 100 lbs heavier, more maintianence, a few more moving parts, more expensive, and just make the landings worse.

.02

I do all my jumping on a SJ and my cruising on a B2. The B2 is not a jumper butis stable as a X-4 hull(95-96 xp80O, 97-99 SPX).
I ride my 8 year old around on it.
i did own a 96 XP for about 5 years and raced it while competing freestyle for something else to do besides sit around and wait to ride for 2 minutes.lol Was hella fun racing. We had full lines all the time.

I feel sorry for those guys if they continue to jump those XPL's like that, obviously they don't know what I know, thats ok I get to learn from other peoples mistakes, they will get to experience it firsthand.

Its ok Wedoo, you end up making the $$ off it.. Just another way to make money from a Sea-poo, right?

Yeah I guess, this it what bugs me though the same people you see doing this kind of stuff are the ones that will turn around and say they are a POS and totally unreliable, hmmmmm wonder why that is,I mean thats only what 25 ft on a ski that weighs over 500lbs somethings got to give somewhere. :nutkick:

99 GP1200..

fun
stable
looks good
yamaha
solid 135hp motor
pretty cheap these days
2 seater
lots of storage
very reliable

you really can't beat it for a novice boat.
even a GP800 or GP760 would be great boats

I would probably rethink putting a friend on a ski in the surf. Its your ski, so you are automatically reliable for your friend. Just from my experiences with dirt bikes and other toys...I will never let a friend ride one of my toys again unless I knew for certain that they were capable of riding them and that they would play it safe. I am pretty sure 99% of the users here know exactly what I am talking about and will vouch for me on that one...

im the 1% that does not
it's what will help the sport to grow
get em hooked
they buy their own and then sell parts to me
