FX-1 144 pump mod Q

Got my 144 yami pump from Bonzai Bob, and am a little confused on what to do about the pump shoe.
Grinding out the 122mm shoe just doesn't seem like the way to go, there would be nothing left of it at 144. I did read a couple other threads using the Blowsion shoe. I believe the SJ shoes are plastic, is that right? And if so, would it be better than the cast aluminum ones.
Anyone with any experience on this please enlighten me on pros and cons.
My searches on the subject have helped but I would like more info.

That stock one has to go, you can't open it up enough. If u use the SJ shoe and run the SJ intake grate, your front mounts will have to be moddified also.

Blowsion/aftermarket is aluminum.
