Starter Issues Superjet

Having trouble with my 95SJ. The engine compartment filled with water the other day when I had the hood off, and after the bilge drained it, I tried to start it and it barely turned over. I charged the battery, and it tried to turn once, then only clicked. I hear and feel clicking in the e-box. Where is my problem? Is it a starter, electronics, or something else? Thanks!

also check under the flywheel cover, if it leaks water will get in there and after a few rides it can rust up the bendix. then again if your starter leaks it could be full of rust and water too now.

if your motor is full of water which could be a reason it's not turning over than your motor is toast already .

Take out the plugs and see if it turns over or not .Press the stop button on the lanyard at the same time so no spark is produced .

Ok...
Took plugs out, opened e box (which had water in it) and hit the relay, and it turned over. There was some water in the engine, but it's all out now. Any other issues to check for?

I just need to get a new started relay. Any suggestions? Lowest price I found was about $45 on boats.net.

my starter is causing me intermittant trouble too
every so ofter it will only start to spin the motor then cut out.
i will hit the start button multiple times with the same results

then just randomly it will engage and fire things up?
i have been hearing the word " dead spot " is there a way to correct this with out a new one?

If there was water in your engine for a few days and you didnt get it started and run it to dry it out completely than your crank bearings are toast man .they probably have rust on them already and your motor will be a ticking time bomb when and if you get it started

drop some fogging oil in that beach and ride the hell out of it pronto.... if it's f'd you'll know soon enough what you have to replace.

jump it for now, just use a screw driver and touch the large posts on the relay together.

get it started on the hose if you have to run it on the trailer... whatever.

every hour it sits is very damaging if it has water in it.

youll have to pull the plugs, and roll the ski on its side ( pipe side down) and jump the relay several times and watch the water fountains shoot out of the plug holes...

like this:

when its finally not spitting water, put plugs in prime it and try and start it.

repeat until tis running.

once running, yu REALLY need to run a few gallons of gas thru, and get it good and hot and steam, dry, burn whatever all the moisture out of the engine.

Got the new relay today ($52 after tax at the dealer), installed, and got it started after some resistance. Dumped a bunch of seafoam in the carb and the cylinders. Ran it on the cart until it was good and hot. Exhaust out the back was dry, and the plugs came out dry afterwards. I'll give it a water test tomorrow or Friday. We'll see what happens. Thanks for all the help so far.
