vForce 3 reeds & stuffer

hello everyone, I have a quick question.

I just bought vForce 3 reeds and will have them installed in 2005 SJ with the usual bolt-ons (b-pipe, 35cc head, carbs spacer) and wanted to know if I should install the reeds with the stuffer they come with or not?????
BTW, I am running stock carbs jetted as per B-Pipe.

Thanks

I would say to try the stuffers that are close to the shape of the stock manifold ports. Don't run the reeds without the stuffers. It will run like dookie.

Thanks mike,

I have been searching and only found two related posts, one of them was saying not to use them (but he had 46 carbs) and the other post was about running them with stock carbs but had to increase the pilot jet to 80 and take the spacer out.

so what you guys think, with or without stuffrs??? I really don't feel like trying both ways

thanks

I think one set of stuffers are for a limited setup and the other is for superstock. I have the white ones but not sure which is which. I ran them without the stuffers but it just wouldn't run right on a stock motor.

Are you guys putting the VF3's in stock cases? I had to grind my cases to fit the reed block but I had a R&D angled spacer plate. I think I used the white stuffers, they fit right up to the Riva manifold. Neither of the two stuffers look like they would match the stock 38mm manifold to good, not sure.

Yes, they bolt right up to the stock cases. The white stuffers don't match at all to the 38mm manifold.

Maybe its the angled reed spacer, thats awsome to know. The stock manifold has oval openings and the stuffers have a rounded square opening, is why I figured they wouldn't match up. All in all I love the reeds.

ok I just got back, as I said in the post above, I installed the vforce 3 reeds without any stuffers, she ran great except it hesitates going from just above idle to WOT (I am thinking fuel starvation), it used to do that when the carbs needed cleaning or there is water in the tank, well both carbs were just cleaned and tank along with all fuel hoses were also cleaned/replaced. so I am thinking that it needs to be rejetted.

did any of you guys have to rejett after installing those reeds (vforce 3) with no stuffers???????????

thanks

update:

since I was getting hesitation right above idle after installing Vforce 3 and an engine rebuilt, I knew it needed more fuel, I started with bigger pilot jet (went from stock 70 to 72.5) but that did not help, I then changed the carbs springs from 95G to 80G and kept the 72.5 jet in and did the trick, she finally runs perfect again.
