jetting question with b pipe

I have a stock 61x motor dunno what jets are inside the carb right now but i installed a b pipe and forgot to order the jets so I ordered them long story short now it will be next week before they get here, Can I open the high and low up and run it for the weekend without blowing it up? have already missed a month of riding and its driving me nuts.

It may even have the jets changed already, the guy I bought the motor from had it running on a wave blaster? and it had a total loss flywheel so there may have been a pipe on the ski as well but i can't remember

To answer any of those questions, you have to know what is in the carbs to begin with.

Does it usually say on the jet, the time or two I have takin them out i cant say i payed attention but i dont remember any numbers on them.

Are they sketched in the jet somewhere?

Unscrew the jets out once you get the jet cover off and see what they are.

Better to be safe than have a seized motor.

I found a 145 main today at a local shop but the pilot is 122. What will running a 122 instead of a 120 do....just run a little rich?

Opened up the carb.....had a 115 main in it....it was suppose to have a 135.... what would that cause it to do just run a little lean? Seems like a 145 main is going to be a HUGE step...


Just tried to install 145...the head is tooo big does it have to be drilled or did I get the wrong jet. the threads are the same and they are the same length just the head is bigger

Low jets are very skinny, head is the same diameter as the threads and the jet # is on the side. High jets have a much bigger head than the threads and the jet # is on top.

They both have numbers on the head and the 115 came out of the main hole. The low jet had the number 120 on the side so I left it in there

Mikuni has 2 styles of main jets, the smaller head main jet ones are used in the SBN watercraft carbs and other float bowl motorcycle types use the big head main jets...so you have the wrong jet!

I am planning on changind it next week when the new ones get in just want to ride tomorrow but dont want to lean it out and blow it up..

If my memory is correct, I had a 145 main in my old B1 with a 61X and a B pipe. That being said than I would have to say that the 135 will be too lean. Better just sit this weekend out and get the right jets before you do blow it up and your out more time and money.
