impeller removal

So I have broke two solas tools in a week span trying to remove the same impeller, Used torch both times, should I just cut the dam thing off? Sucks having a brand new prop on the shelf and look at this ugly thing in the pump...

Its on a superjet

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
can you cut or grind the impeller in a way to get a wrench around it or make some kind of tool that you can put a pipe on to get some serious torque while at the same time using the solas tool at the end? That should bust that sucker loose... make sure to use anti sieze when putting on the new one... someone might not have used it before or maybe even used red loctite...

I remember Kaveman helping Penguin pull his prop at Texoma.

He put it on a hard surface and struck the wrench holding the removal tool with a hammer.

It's reverse threaded!!!!!

...I had two different jetski shops break a tool at each one, guess I am gonna grind it down and grab it with a pipe wrench or buy a new pump, I looked up the shaft and I think its over 200 bucks...

Since you've started cutting, word to the wise - be very very careful once you get down near the threads of the driveshaft - I sort of nicked mine when I was cutting (although the threads were galled up anyway).

Which reminds me - anyone got a reverse thread die in that size??? Just a shot....

I am worried about the thread but if I cant get it off its bad anyway.. found out solas is hollow so I am gonna cut the skirt out of the way that holds the splines and then start cutting the piece surrounding the threads off...

Sucks it was a decent prop too if it wasnt a little dinged up I would left it alone but have a shiny new skat waiting for me when its done :)

My battery on the recip keeps dieing so i can only do so much at a time and the air compressor can barely keep up.. half done I think.. gonna clean up the vanes when i get the prop off
