99 SJ. Just ordered a b pipe with limited chamber, a new pump with 13/17 concord setup fpr dual cooling, and thinking about an ada girdled head. I have a set of 44 SBNs arownd. Should I use those or stick with the stock 38s? or do I go single or aftermarket? I am planing on porting this winter. Any tips on jetting and how about removing the chokes? the 44s have no chokes. One more thing, what about an intake for the 44s? they are on an R&D 750 intake now. can I bore/ or have bored the stock one? or get a new one? how about one off a diff model? sorry so many ?s just want to do it right the first time.

If you are planing to have some motor work done over the winter than start talking to your engine builder (or who ever will be doing the porting) on carb setups.

I love my dual 46's that Chucky uses on X-Scream motors.
They work perfect for my setup and would never change a thing.

Just stay with the 38's period, even with a type 4. Nice and crisp, great power and fuel economy as well. More motor=more money=more wrenching=less riding.

Not always TRUE!!!
I'll disagree...
Just going by what Radney told me about my limited setup, and he also reccomended stock reeds. It runs so much better now than with the 44's and vforce1's, and without the lightswitch action.:hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail:

I have 44's on my ported 701 with a pro-tec intake, ada head, b pipe mod, and some other do dads and it rips. It hits hard and keeps pulling. Stock carbs are not made to perform like a SBN.

I would get a good intake/reed setup and run the 44's. If you want to get real spendy, send them to Full Spectrum, and buy his intake. I can't understand why people don't want their boat to "hit".

how about using the 38s with tau cetis and no chokes for now. when i get the porting done can i still stick with them or should i save the 44s and maybe send them to group k or blackjack for reworking. I dont want to buy filter adapters twice. ill stay stock if im gonna do 44s next season

Stick with the oem airbox if you plan to freestyle. Better for subs, fountains, stabs, etc... and its harder to ingest water with this setup. There is not much difference performance wise between stock and aftermarket flame arrestors.
