starter wont shut off

I put the ski back together and sure enough the starter worked a couple times and then the starter stuck on again. What's the chance the bearings are going bad in the starter and it is engaging and failing to disengage when it is suppose to. IF so would the starter stay on? When the ski goes into its starting issue, it will sometimes stahl and the starter will take over and continue to crank. I am thinking about replacing the starter. Any thoughts?

So I went back and looked at the things Supertune suggested and I cleaned the battery cable ends and replace cable lugs that hook to the battery. So far so good, but I will keep testing before I get on the water and have issues.

I forgot!
i have had my bendix stick on so that it spun the starter motor while the engine is running but that sound different then your problem. somehow your starter is getting power to run itself when the button isn't being pushed. if it continues to happen you will for sure have to get a new starter but i wouldn't install it until you figure out why it is getting power after the start button is released

yet another disapointment. Tested a few more times and stuck on again. I am replacing the wires and hopefully this solves the problem.

Did you unhook the switch wires like suggested? Did that stop it? I seriously think you need to quick screwing with that ski and buy a real one. Your investing all this time trying to get it to work right and then when you do, your gonna ride mine a few times and decide you want a SJ.

well I played with starter problem yesterday. I took apart the starter button and put it together again. when it started to do it's "issue" I pushed the starter button a couple more times and was able to stop it from doing so. So...against my better judgement, I going to do a water test tomorrow in Lake Erie. LoL, wish me luck.

Well that just a flop. Got it in the water and it wouldn't start. It started outside the water, but not in the water. And of course it did the starter problem too. I am soooo frustrated with this ski. I guess another solenoid is the next solution. I am going to take pics of the starter switch to see what you guys think of condition. To me it looks perfect. Someone once suggested to put some kind of electrical goo inside the switch. Has anyone heard of this?

Electrical goo==> probably di-electric grease... they sell it at autoparts stores and maybe elsewhere...
