I hadn’t ridden it in months, but took it to the lake over the weekend and decided to put it in since I had guests (it had been ridden and cranked by others the past few months, so all was well I was told; therefore it’s a new problem). It ran fine for 15 minutes while simply riding it around jumping a few boat’s wakes, then it began to act up. It cranked, it ran at a low idle, but when I opened up on the throttle, it died INSTANTLY AND CONSISTENTLY. What could be wrong??? I have to get all the skis up to Nick, but I simply haven’t had time and am curious about this in the interim. (Nick, if you read this, I need your number again…new phone down here.)

If it was January I would come help! Winter in Ohio sucks balls...

I would start with
1) compression check
2) check little filters in carbs
3) check fuel lines for clogging
4) you might want to check the little plastic check valve going to your fuel tank to make sure it still works right... can that make a ski do that? It might but I cant remember...

Thats weird. Sounds like something may have gotten stopped up in the Carb.

When I ran it out at the lake it ran awsome.... but I only rode it for like 5-10 minutes to clean it off from the road trip.

Let me know if you need help figuring it out.

Ditto on checking the little carb filters. If it's been sitting and the gas got a little gummed up in there, then chances are that's all it is. Sounds like the motor is just starved. Never hurts to put stabilizer in the tank, run the ski with the fuel petcock "off" until it dies before you store it to prevent the carbs gumming up. I'd also put some water eliminator in your tank, just in case some condensation got in the tank while it was sitting.

Check the one way valve on the tank ! Or if not sure how to check next time it acts up.. take the gas cap off, put it back and see if its ok for 15 minutes again..

part it out......ill take the motor:wave:

Lol, should’ve known better to ask for help on here (j/j) No crashes luckily, mainly just shredding flat water :)omfg:)

Okay, like I know what/where half of this/that stuff is, but I will be passing it all on to Fox here locally (since he’s constantly wrenching on his ski…not sure that’s such a good idea now that I think on it), and maybe he can do something until I can get all up to Nick (or Cracker…thx sir).

Thanks bunches for the suggestions, and HEY…no fair to make fun of a petite female on the permanent carnage list…I paid my dues already out there AND probably not the last time, but that’s okay…it’s worth it!

To the mean boyz, lol…WAIT until you get my age…if I’m still living, I’ll give all you mean youngins h#ll back with flare, lol, poke ya in the chest with my cane I will…that’s IF you still have the nerve to even get out there)! :starwars:

bring it here, I"ll fix it.... for a price.

I went and did a dockside repair today with a similar problem on a GP800. He had very slight water ingestion. I changed the plugs, pumped the throttle (it has an accelerator pump) and it started right up. easy money.

The blaster runs if you didnt notice.

The plugs were fouled and the engine was running a bit rich.

I didnt get the superjet running.

Went home and epoxied up my broken motor mounted and put the motor back in, and started to tear down this sea doo 580 motor. All in a days work.

Yes Sir, it cranks as before; however, I still can not open up the throttle without it shutting down immediately. And I still love you, but the neighbors are probably hating both of us after last night…that back courtyard lit itself up like Ft. Knox with only one spot light going (lol), so money well paid to you! “Let there be LIGHT!”
