Factory Pipe Tuning Questions (FX-1)

This is for a stock FX-1 (other than the pipe of course). I'm also runing a solas imp. on the stock pump.

Does the chamber need to sizzle water, or is it the B-Pipe? From the instructions it sounds like the chamber, but from posts, it sounds like the headpipe. Right now, the chamber doesn't sizzle water at all, leading me to think that the bottom screw needs to be closed. Currently, its at 3/4 turns with the other two closed, (per factory pipe).

Also, I'm not sure if I'm hitting the rev limiter, or the carbs or pipe needs adjustment. It hits hard on the bottom, but once I get to about 3/4 throttle, it seems to cut, like its hitting the rev limiter. I'm not sure if it is or not, I'm a rookie at tuning, help is much appreciated.

thanks.

The best advice I can give you is adjust the screws and keep testing and adjusting. Each ski is diffrent it took me 2 hrs to get mine dialed in. FX1 also I think my top screw is almost 2 turns out and bottom is 1/2 turn

What about my first question though, or does anybody do the FPP procedure for tuning? Is the water supposed to sizzle on the chamber, or the headpipe?

Sizzle on very beginning of chamber. On my FX1 pipe, I run the bottom closed, middle 1/16 turn, top 1/4 turn out.

If you're running an FX pump, you will absolutely need a rev limiter mod. With the stock pump and a Factory Pipe you'll hit the stock rev limiter real quick and it will seem like it runs like poop.

Well, I guess its time to mod the rev limiter. Would you recomend the MSD enhancer over the moded oem?

thanks for the replies.

Yes run the MSD. Some will say modify stock for reliability.....but what really is ever reliable about skis? Just go for the performance. If you search the net they can be had new for ~$179.00.......
