cheapest flywheel puller?

wheres the cheapest place to get a puller for a 701? ive been to multiple sites, and one of them designated the 701 as using a different puller than a 650, the others showed them being the same. and they all seemed to be about 50(!) bucks except for here http://www.playtimepowersports.com/misc.htm
which was less than half that. id rather buy a used one, anybody have an extra layin around?

You just need to make sure that the end piece of the central bolt is small enough to fit through the hole in the flywheel. A lot of them are too big.

even if that was the case, couldn't you just install the flywheel bolt like half way, then tighten the puller up to that... it wouldn't have the nice recess like the front of the crank, but seems like it would work :dunno:

I'm having a brain fart, what is that front area of the crank called? I just said the word last night, but can't think of it now.

I just leave the little pointy spindle thing off of mine, the end of the center bolt that fits into the poiny spindy thing, is small enough to go thru the flywheel center hole.

Sounds like a good way to doughnut up the bolt and/or the threads inside the crank. Maybe not, but I'd be afraid to do that. With my luck, it'd happen to me first.

yes.

most kits come with the proper metric bolts, they are just soft and cheap.

goto lowes, get grade 8 bolts, and some grade 8 washers, and you will be set.

I use the bolt to another reason for using the bolt your flywheel wont pop off and hit the ground, I only back it out a 1/4 inch

yep just back it out 1/8 to 1/4" and let the air impact do the work in just a couple braps.

I was going to mention the Harbor Freight model myself. You might have to get some stronger bolts, but the included ones will prolly work fine for a while. I am glad we have a harbor freight store here, I seem to always find something I can use from there. I know it is mostly all cheapo Chinese stuff, but for a hack like me it is usually good enough for no more than I use it.
