I am looking at trim tubes and would like to keep the tube as small as possible. What kind of outside diameter on the trim cable am I looking at to run through the tube. A tube I am looking at has .36 Inside Diameter and I dont know if it would be enough. I know the throttle cable is about 1/4" but I am not sure how wide the fitting on the ends are of cables. Ideas? thanks

I used seamless 316 stainless steel tubing that was .375" diameter with a .028" wall thickness and its 20 inches long.

You can purchase the tubing at http://www.onlinemetals.com/

Also Pro-Tec sells the same tubing for their trim system for $14.95

The inside diameter of the tubing will be .319" and the outside diameter of the Pro-Tec cable measures .270" at the end.

thanks guys...i ended up buying that one from protec yesterday and was going to go with virgin's cable setup with the steering end on the end of the cable and i found out that it doesnt look like the cable will fit through the protec trim tube. the cable that comes with virgins trim must be larger than normal and they use 1/2 tubes for theirs. guess ill have to wait and see.

I think why there is the confusion is because some use a bicycle style cable while some use a dirtbike style cable. I checked my lever last night and the cable sheath where it meets the lever is 5/16"......i doubt this will fit through a 3/8" tube. the bicycle style cable are a bit smaller.
