The legal wording in patents amazes me. I'm filing for a couple patents at work and I provided the lawyers a description of the parts and then they write it all up. I barely understand the description when it comes back for me to approve and sign.

FYI, it take 18 months before a "patent pending application" gets published where the world can see it. protection starts from the date it is filed, it is also illegal to claim patent pending if one has not at least applied for a patent with a reasonable belief it will be granted
No patent I have ever received cost anywhere near 100 dollars, not to mention you haveto spend $$ to defend a patent, suits start at about half a mil

20 mins after Tom21 installs his new X2 specific tubbies on my ski... I'm going to splash them for $130 shipped. Who wants a set?

Google patent search has a sheet ton that come up when searching for this but the newest one was filed in 2004. They have something you can sign up for that emails you when patents matching your search are filed.

It's is deff cheaper (and a loop hole in the system) to just get one pending. However I have a hard time believing it could be done for $100 unless you have a lawyer that is willing to hook you up. I would think just the filing fee for it alone would cost more than that.

I say screw the patent. Just make the thing and sell it for a reasonable price. That's obviously enough beat blowsion.

Exactly!!! The way to win the game is to offer the cheapest price. Make your product as inexpensive as possible and deliever it slightly above your best price. Recoop your costs quickly to make up for the initial investment, and when it starts getting splashed, match the price.

Filing for a patent is only going to increase your investment costs, and it's not going to deter very many people. Even if you do deter the big guys, you're still going to have guys selling them to their buddies locally. It happens with the tubbies. The nice thing about your conversion hood and the X2 sponsons is that there's not enough people in one place that people can sell them locally. They are forced to put their reputation on the line by posting it publically.

no, I'm making a conversion hood. I just looked up tubbies because I knew they're patent pending

If you think you have some thing unique. Why not get a prov. patent?

For the skeptical folks, it's the patent that costs the $$. Why not;

step #1. do a patent pending ($100/good for 1 yr.)

step #2. reapply for a new (same) patent pending ($100/good for 1 yr.)

step #3 , repeat step #2

patent pendings will deter someone from copying your idea. Because, if you (the patent pending infringer) copies someone PP idea, make a lot of money, (the patent pending owner) might just wait 'till you make a little more $$, than hit you hard. Then guess who you did all of that work for?

what are the names of people at blowsion that would have submitted for a patent?

I don't know the names, so I couldn't look it up that way.

If it's Patent Pending, it won't show the file. Nobody can look at that file for one year.
