Gas, Gas, Gas, Gas

I know many of you are local to this ride, so can we get an idea of what type of gas we can expect to be available near the ride? Or do we have to bring enough for the whole weekend?

I run 100 octane, so I am hoping there is 110 available there, or atleast something at or above that.

Put my mind at ease!

only thing you'll find in a pump down there is 87, 89 or 93

you'll need to pick up anything higher than in Houston or bring it with you. QuickMick might know a place to get it.

note that if you bring fuel - you either have to disguise it carefully to bring across the ferry - or take the long way around.

where are you coming from?

An additional note on that. If you go on the ferry and they see you're gas cans, they must be filled with water. Not only can you not take cans with gas across, but you also can't take empty cans across. They will make turn around and fill them with water, and since all the gas stations charge for water, it'll cost you a few bucks to do so.

They don't search for them, they just watch for them.

I'm coming from the back way so that I don't have to hide gas or fill my cans with water.

When coming from the West, the quickest way to get to the destination is across a ferry. It's not an island, more of a peninsula.

If you're coming from the North or East, U should be able to easily avoid the ferry.

I'm bringing 5, 5-gallon cans.

Anyone know where I can pick up some race gas in central Houston?

Im told that the Houston Motor Speedway (drag strip) Baytown has it.

I get it in seabrook. I picked up 12 gallons today. Im now broke.

Thanks. I found a few places I'm gonna call tomorrow but nothing in town so far. What is the going rate down in seabrook? Yamaha motorsports on 1960 around the beltway said $7 a gallon for 110 leaded. I think I found a place up north that has 104 and 110 for $4.75 a gallon though.

I'm a newbie in this area. What do you guys usually run?

Skinnyman - I think AJ's Racing fuels might be the one you are thinking of? It's just outside the beltway on the east side.

Here's the list I've been working on. HiperFuels has 55 gallon drums listed on their website. I'd go in on it if someone has the capacity to bring it down to Crystal Beach.

I talked to EBR in Seabrook, the guy that runs that place said he might come down with some stuff for us (shirts? I didnt ask) and I told him if he does to bring a drum of fuel.
Its 111 at 8.50 a gallon.

I wish We would of talked about pitching in for a drum just a few days ago. I allready bought 12 gallons and need about 5 more for this weekend.
If you guys do get a drum count me in for at least 5 gallons, more if you guys have any extra.
