I just recently bought a very clean 800 SXR engine i am going to put into my X2. Well I want to add on a few bolt ones but wanted to get you guy's advice before I buy anything. Here goes:
Timing Advance. I was going to short the air temp sensor but Kahuna said to just get an advance plate. So is that a gd idea? I hate the fact that I will have to run the thick gasket so that anything doesn't rub. I will get an R&D advance plate if you guys recommend it.
Flame arrestors. I would just keep the stock ones but there is fittment problems with them in an X2. I will mainly be doing freestyle and rec riding. I had planned on getting a pair of Tau Ceti's or Prok's. I would of course use the outerwears but they still let water in. Too bad I can't use a set of stock SBN 44 SJ flame arrestors. What other arrestors do you guys recommend?
I also will eventually buy an aftermarket head. I like the look of the ADA but do not like the PITA girdle kit. If i ma going to buy a head I at least want the option of runing a girdle kit. I know with some heads you have to machine the cylinders for the girdle hardware. I also looked at JSU and R&D heads but both have draw backs for me. The JSU is a 4 piece design which leads me to believe it is a bigger hassle ot work on. That is one extra o-ring to pinch. The R&D doesn't have removable domes. I want to be able to adjust compression accordingly. So what heads are you guys running?
Finally I am a bit lost as to what pump setup to try. I for now will be running my 650 pump. Well they are practically identical to a 750/800 pump. Later on I will mate up a 750 pump I have and use a TBM stuffer. I would love to get a Skat but on a stock/limited ski I doubt it is necessary. But what pitch props, brand/type of prop, pump nozzle, and steer nozzle do you guys recommend. I do have a Wet Wolf cone I will be using too.
If you gus have any good reccomendations, I would appreciate it.
