Any reason why the xmetal pole would not fit in the bracket? I put the bracket on before the pole, so the only reason I could see is maybe by bolting it down it pulled the bracket tabs closer together....

I was going to grind the bushings on the pole 1/16" on both sides to make it fit, but I wanted to see what you guys though first...

Thanks.

The bushings can be hard to get in all the way because of the powdercoating. You may have to sand down the coating on the bushing holes of the pole.

As the bracket is hand fabricated, it is always possible that the uprights are titled in a bit, but you can spread them a little too.

do not sand the powdercoating. This will cause corrosion to get up under it, my first XMetal pole did this some......
Just bend the uprights out just a little bit, enough to get the pole started into it, then slowly force it in..

Last night I used a metal file and filed a little around the outside edges of the bushings... I may have filed a little off the surface, but I didnt go crazy because like I said- I wanted to ask you guys first before I really cut into it..... so a little material has been removed around the outside edge and maybe a tiny bit off the face... no material has been removed from the pole itself though... will this be a problem?

I will bend the tabs out with a mallet this morning... hopefully I didnt screw up the bushings...

I will just take the bracket off first and see if I can get it to fit... then I'll bend it if I have to... and then put it back on...

Thanks guys... nothing is ever easy!

I would get new bushings....... reason being is they are already going to slowly wear down, you will know this by your pole getting looser, what you have done is already aged the bushing some........ unless you did not touch the flat surface and only hit the edges.

i always put the pole on the bracket first, then mount it on the ski. just a thought..

that is the key to this install...

bolt the whole thing together, THEN put it on the ski..

it works way better this way.....otherwise it'll take you forever to get the dual bolts on later (breather tubes gets in the way)

I have done the same with bushings in the past...never been an issue

my last pole install with the bracket mounted took about 5 minutes........my first install, well, maybe an hour....... I think Patrick changed the tolerance of the bushings from the first pole I bought to the second one. I even called him up and thanked him!!!!!!!

I just looked at them... the edge I just took the sharp corner off of since there was a few little burrs on it.... this I did about 80% around the very edge of both bushings... the face I would say has only been touched about 5%... the rest is still shiney bushing surface... I think I will try and run them as is...
