Telescoping trailer neck ?????

We someties launch from a sand ramp. Don't want to back a vehicle on soft sand so we tie a long rope from the hitch to the trailer & pull it out. Then hook the trailer to the vehicle once the trailer is pulled out of the soft stuff.

ive done that a few times, with skis and flat bottom boats.

then just drag the trailer up the bank, beach, rocks whatever to re-connect.

I pull two skis with a Scion xB 95HP and have no problem at all, remind you this is a front wheel drive but the car is as light as hell.

I also pull my 600 LB Sea Poo and have no problem pulling it out of the water and up the ramp.

is the Camaro a 6 speed manual or auto??


Just put it in 2nd gear if manual to pull out, if it auto then put it in low 2 to pull out, that way your not putting as much torque to the wheels.

Auto w/ 3.73 gears in the rear. The motor has a good amount of bolts ons and has broken the tires loose at 55mph in dry conditions. If it were front wheel drive I would not be worried. But this is rear wheel drive w/ hardly any weight in the back.

what bk said, if you put it in straight 2 it will take off in 2 and not have the low end grunt that your worried about. FYI this is hard on a tranny especially under a load but its an option.
i dont think you would have a prob as long as you keep the tires dry and pull out easy

will GM tranys do that?

I know Ford autos at least the old C4 auto used to start in second if you wanted it to.

but the older GM trannys didnt used to do that..

maybe the newer ones do.

but yeah, it will heat it up fast, but I assume since its a performance application you have suffecient trans coolage.

i know 700r4, 4l60e, and 4l80e are that way not sure about any others.
he should have a 60e

from what i can recall the 350-400 turbos did not, its been awhile since i have had one though. pretty much '88 up should and some '87's

It has a locking rearend right? I towed my heavy ass trailer with 2 skis on it forever with my old S-10 with skinny tires and a locking rear diff and never had any issues even on some very steep ramps and even in the rain---one I really remember was Jetfest 2000.
