rattle can paint tips

With flat black in a rattle can try not to spray in a regular (left to right) pattern but use a circular pattern instead.
It helps to reduce shading.

I've read to soak the cans in HOT water, it helps get the pressure up and improves the spray volume.

Get the ski out in the sun if you can, I painted one (white) last year and had one side towards the sun and one side in the shade. The shade side was colder and even though I sprayed the same amount of paint it ran on the cold side.

Get one of those handles that clips into the top of the can, it then works like a spray gun. Keeping your finger from cramping and getting full of paint, also allows more control.

My square nose is getting the flat black treatment right now. I bought the hull and it had a horrible late 90's paintjob with barb wire. So black it goes. I figure, I'll just bring a can with the ski and if it needs a touch up, pshhhhhhhhh, all fixed.

it wont last 2 rides on the BOTTOM of the hull.

the upper hull will be fine I painted mine 2 years ago and its still there, mostly, some scratches.

but I didnt do nearly enough prep work.

you are WAY over thinking this
the whole reason for the rattle can is easy to change your mind, and easy to touch up.

sand it, paint it, and ride it.

clear clear clear. a good amount of decent clear will help a rattle can job last longer. i didnt clear mine enough and the sun ate away at it waaayyy to fast. (at least thats what i understand)
