Where did Smitty's hood end up? I was referring to that EXACT hood that Wahoo_1 now owns... it was Maros' own personal one that he had in Havasu that year. I rode it before Reed did - thats what i was trying to say

No pics of the severed motor mounts? j/k

My only other piece of advice would be: Get a REAL set of carbs on there!!!! Im sure Tom has a set of nice 44's collecting dust at his shop, right?

As an X2 guy myself these hoods are the only thing making me want to get an SJ. Sure if I was to get another stand up, I would get an SJ. However all the parts I know are kawie parts. Also the cost of new and used SJ's are making me shy away. No offense Yamaha guys but the SJ didn't change for 10+ years except for the price. If I could get a used one for a decent price then I would already have one. It is just hard to justify when I picked up my second X2 for only 800 bucks! But these hood systems have me wanting an SJ with an 800 GPR engine! That ski looks great. You have carnage pics of the nose?

no pixs.... Neil just got the nose pushed into the floor- which happened to A LOT of folks.... broken mounts (that were already suspect) and some nose damage/ cracks was all.

I know, was just razzing you........

I really do not know what happened to it, it may be one of the ones in florida now, Smitty use to do some testing for Chris I believe, it was too rough on his shoulder so he went back to the pole. thought he sent it back to Chris, Maybe Geek will pop in, he may know.

I don't mean to ruffle feathers- but why does everyone keep trying to define this ski because of a hood and steering?

"its not good in the surf" or "its not good on a lake" :bsflag:

on second thought - I will agree its not good in either its fockin awesome!!!

I was havin a blast on the lake when were testing it, in fact I did a "round the world" I think it is called for the very first time by accident with it.

This ski has almost everything you could ask for on it- more carb or cleaned up a little at least and a steering nozzle mod for quicker steering and I say its done.

I haven't heard one person say anything negative about it that has riden it. just some small critiques, like needs a d'cut or quicksteer or little leaner, thats it! flatwater here and surf there.

bk you can be the only naysayer but I would venture to say if you ride it again you may have a different opinion. just my .02

OMG this ski ripped like no other! Gyod that hood paired up with a set of tubbies seems to be the ticket. Thanks Reed! I was having so much fun I kept forgetting about the bottom end bog, hahaa. Now reinforce that beech so it can get upside down.

I rode it with a Lamey in it, had more power than most around today...... It would almost barrell roll on its own without much input. It was rough on the arms and shoulders. I can see where it would be fun in the surf, lots of control, I personally did not like it for flat water. But that is my opinion, I ride Flat Water 95% of the time. I think that I know what I prefer.

dude, trust me when I say I was living vicariously through all you schmucks riding it! It was pretty cool to notice guys take it out for the first time (kinda cautious and feeling her out)... then once they settle in and start learning the handling characteristics.. the rippin begins! GREEN LIGHT GO!

BTW, Bronson thought it to be a bit nose heavy despite the tubbies, but he also really dug it. I just told him it had a real gas tank and foam in it. :jester: He can add his two cents when he's on...

BK, while primarily a surf boat first, suprisingly, it was actually pretty fun on the lake when we put it through the paces. But hey, it might not be for everyone whatever the reason.

hey Wahoo, dont get me wrong, I think you did a hell of a job on it.......looks killer

All that matters is that you like it, on the lake, river or the surf.............

Does not matter what I say, or anybody.............. that is what is great, we all can have our opinions. "It's mine, leave it along, get your own!!!!!!!!!"

I don't mean to ruffle feathers-

reread my post!!!!!! I'm not gonna go to war with you over your opinion. everyone has them, and you can be the only one who does not like this setup.won't bother me one bit.

I can understand why you are testy- I would be too if I missed Daytona and a chance to ride this ski again- its ok, I won't hold a grudge. :fing02:

that is weird, I felt completely the opposite! I couldn't keep the nose down. maybe I need to lay off the throttle a little. what can I say I was friggen pumped after riding the blaster!!! just ask Dion.
