What can we get away with for helmets here? Can a regular bicycle helmet be considered suffice by the beach patrol?

My friend that's coming with doesn't own or where one and doesn't want to spend $ for one time use....

no preaching needed as I have a real one, just want to know expectations before we show up.

any helmet will do.... there literally is no criteria. the wimpiest crap helmet from walmart that will fit you is acceptable...

Yes, mandatory.
You should have seen the sweet helmet freestyle geek had last year. It looked like a police motorcycle patrol helmet.

yes.

a couple of years ago jason stoyer went out without one first thing in the morning. the beach patrol was blasting on the PA with the lights on trying to get him to come in. it seemed like forever before he saw them.
