it cant fall out if the engine is in place I assume this, because its never fallen out before, its likely been that way for the few years ive owned this boat as ive never had this engine out of the hull.

cool though, Ill glue it in, thats how I roll.

it has fallen out. that silver cylinder is the bearings and seals they seal the water out. I am sure you are aware of this. it may work for a while but I would worry about it constantly. what a drag being ready to ride all day and first thing it falls out - now you are done for the day unless you steal the wifeys ride.:slap:

I gotcha, BUT, it plugged right back in and stays there.

thats why I think its been like that for a while, it is perfectly quiet, and I dont recall it leaking.

Its my sons boat, he will have to bum rides from mom if it falls out!
haha

Let us know how the 5200 holds up. I am curious to see how this works, its obviously glued in with something initially right? Or is it molded in??? I have seen one that someone put back together. The actually put 2 set screws in it form outside of casing to keep it from spinning i guess. I did not re-use it for fear of future issues, plus the morrons painted it orange too.

I had thought about cleaning the outer bearing surface really well, then heating the rubber with a torch and seeing if it would stick, glue it in 5200, epoxy whatever.

its perfectly smooth, I dont think its been spinning.
pinning it with a couple of screws isnt a bad idea either.

ive got a few other housings, and bearing parts to mix and match from, but I think this one is workable as is.

Ill report back once its back up and running ( spring time)

You can get a complete aftermarket housing w/bearings and seals for a bit over $100. Not as good as OEM, but better than rigging that one.

If you strip your shafts because of that you'll spend closer to $300 to fix it with used stuff and you'll have a lot of work to do also .

I'd replace it

x2, I think you can get the WSM brand midshaft assy for a lot less than stock. Not worth chancing crapping out your splines on both shafts IMO. Dust off some of that old moldy money and live a little. J/K

ahh, I did not think of stripping the drive shaft end, that might be a deal breaker for me, no fear of sinking, but stripping that shaft would bother me.

I stripped both shafts at the Virginia beach ride and it is a lot of work and money to fix properly .Usually if you strip one than the other is damaged too .I don't see how one can be damaged without the other one getting damaged too .

You need to remove your whole pump and get a new or used driveshaft and new bearings .pound out the shaft and install new bearings and reinstall shaft and reinstall pump .
Remove motor to access short shaft housing .
I went with a new OEM housing and bearings/seals/short shaft etc .You have to assemble that unless you buy WSM .

For a used driveshaft and new short shaft with housing and new bearings all the way around it was $450 and I had to do all the labor .
I believe you can get a WSM housing assembled for like $130 and you can tap in the shaft yourself it's easy .Shaft goes out the back 19 to 22mm

I ended up rebuilding my motor and painting my ski while I was at it to get ready for Daytona .Total cost about $3000
