and IMO it sucked!

the ski is sick though, feels great as far as power and hook up, carves effortlessly. turns on a dime even with stock steering although not as responsive as a pre-'08.

this ski wouldnt be fun as a surf ski. its hard or impossible to do a backside slash. cant slide the rear end at all. you gotta be leaned waay forward and i only got it to slide after a hop.

maybe some surf mods will evolve..

i will tell you kawasaki will no longer rule the race scene, the 08 will carve buoys just as good, if not better!

i don't think anybody should be too quick to judge. It would take a lot more than one ride to really be able to take advantage of it in the surf. When I started riding an SXR I couldn't break it loose at all. But after a couple weeks I don't even have to think about it. I can't wait to get my chance to try it out.

no it wasnt taylors, his is currently stripped bare for reinforcement. i think hes going to HATE it, but maybe he will change his riding style (unlikely!)
a sxr surfrider will LOVE it. so be ready to buy a new ski mike! lightweight and brappy like a sj but carvy and fast like a sxr.

in a straight line it feels just like a superjet, but make a turn and the similarities are over.
for some reason the ski i rode felt flimsy and hollow, land flat from a couple feet and the noise it makes is kinda scary. must be to the wider hull up front. land tail first and its plush. it also slides on the sand very smooth, maybe just the stock intake and gelcoat covered bottom.

keep in mind my ski experience is VERY limited, i havent rode a sxr since ive known how to ride and i havent ridden other skis only my sj and a couple superjets here and there.

This 08 sounds like my ideal machine; something lighter and smaller than an SXR, but turns like one. I am in love with the SXR carving, but I hate how big it feels. If I had alot of money, with the pre 08 SJ's that I have ridden, and the one SXR I've ridden, I'd probably build a surf SXR or buy an 08 SJ. It would be pretty sweet is the SJ's had as much room in the tray as the SXR's though.

most likely the nozzle tilt is to the downward side, that is going to make it handle better in turns, turn it so it is giving upwards nozzle trim and you will loosen the nose up some.

Yea Yamaha could have improved that ski much more by adding a wider tray... By the bottom of the hull you would think they took a better look at the SXR.

The boat sounds fun in the surf to me.... I cant wait to hear some feedback from Taylor.

I was able to break loose the back end of a light weight SXR no problem.... I cant see the 08 SJ being much different..... Im with Mike on this one.

When we went riding on 11/10 here in Oregon the Blowsion guys were just leaving the launch after trying out the 08 SJ when we got there. They seemed to indicate they had some plans for it.
