i have a 98 sj with a gp800 motor that is being installed this winter. i am ordering the waterdawgs parts soon. my goal is a flatwater backy.
I can have the hull shortened if i want it for free, should i do? if so how much and what trim? thanks

if anything 2-3 inches you might not actually need to shorten tho for flat i believe the most you would need is some technique some trim and your setup seems solid so..try at stock first then the nexxt winter take it down if need be

Depending on your height, I would recommend 2" or 2-1/2". When you go shorter than that, you need a REALLY short pole, and footholds WAY far forward in order to make the boat ride normally. Most of the backflip hulls are around 2-1/2". That's what I cut mine to and it seems to be perfect. The rideplate can make or break the hull too. You'll probably have to experiment with different lengths.

im 5'9 to 6'2 depending on what gas station im running out of. and about 175lbs. now are u guys shortening the whole hull or just the bottom? i was under the impression just the bottom.

5'9 and 175lbs

i will prob go 2 or 2half and see how that is. how squirlly will this be? will i need a stock ski for tooln around?

Yes you just cut off of the bottom, and 2" will make a very noticeable difference, especially if you cut your ride plate too. I would suggest riding a ski that has been shortened first just to see if you like it or could get used to it, if possible of course. This is a pic of how Droc cut his hull, very nice job IMO. Hope this helps ya in your decision making process.

We have everything that you need in stock. As for the hull, I would recommend three inches shorter. I have done them and they work really good. :Banane01:

Shortened and scalloped

If you want to flip and roll alot easier, do this. It is shortened three inches and scalloped on the back corners.

if you ever have a cheap lightweight hulls i want one bad. of course my wife would divorce me. ah hell how much are they? haha i love the pics, i will do that... are they pretty stable or worse than a fx-1?

A while back someone was talking about making extensions that can bolt on to the rear of the ski to extend the hull back to normal once you have shortened it. Did anything ever come of it.Does someone make them?
