US freestyle!

No he will not!
OK, so here are some of my random thoughts on the state of the Union:

We as American Freestyle riders need to get our arses back in gear :Banane36: With the exception of the obvious stud, and Norcal (nice showing at WF BTW) we are getting our butts handed to us at the world level.
It's time for more of the young'ns step it up too, I think Jason Stoyer was the youngest US Pro in Havasu and he's got to be close to 30. WTF?

So what's it going to take? I'd teach every weekend all year long if I knew how to do anything that I can do......I am a horrible teacher, but if you want to come to Titusville, FL and ride let me know when. We need some good ideas here to get some new blood involved!

First we need more young competative riders, then with the way the rules are set up they have to win in Amateur to become Pro. So by those rules you may only get 1 extra person a year competing in Pro

That was my understanding

No, you can go pro whenever you want, typically of someone wins AM Freestye at WF they would step up the next season to PRO, but that is not a rule......

The throught process is if you win an Amature Title then you are ready because you are the best Amature out there......... But sometimes the guy that wins the AM World Title by skill level is really already at Pro Level.........

Ratti is an example of a competitor that is ready to step up, He did win a National but not a world, but here in the US, you are gonna be hard pressed to find an Amature that can even come close to his riding ability....... I hear NORCAL is probably the only other person who can give him a run........ (Note, this is not based on WF finishes. Just of my knowlegde or watching Ratti progress from his first competition.

And I wont need a 25k+ boat to do it on

I think that's the major road block for most people, I know it is for me. My personal ski wouldn't even be good for Am anymore if it weren't for all the help I get. So how do we make it cheaper again? If I win the lotto, I'll buy 200 of the baddest skis I can find and pass them out :brap:

Actually, that has nothing to do with Freestyle. This is more of a continuation of the Red Bull events from 1999-2001.

Dont get me wrong, I like the surf slam and what it is......... But it is not freestyle.........

Parr may not be the best teacher, but he's not too far from it. I can't tell you how much I've learned in the past 2 months riding with him a lot. Thanks PDiddy:bananajump:

I think the problem is that for the most part, freestyle is a middle class sport in the US, but for the rest of the world, it is mostly done by people that have the money and time to keep up with the Jones's. It sucks that the new standard Amateur setup is 25k. I guess I'll be shooting for being the best I can with what I can afford. Next year at Havasu I bet you'll see triple the EME skis.

I know that we will slowly get more people to compete and hopefully younger kids too. I know this year was my first year competing at 16. It was fun but its so hard on a budget at 16 years old to be competitve. I was riding my SN w/ a b-pipe, ADA head, and prop and that was it. I know that i can barely afford to put that on my ski im building right now.

Also, where i ride there isnt ANYONE to teach me anything. Im riding all the time by myself and have to teach myself everything. Really slows down the learing curve.

But i will be back next year to compete and actually place well.
