motor mounts = WTF?

So I have this X2 I just got. I'm trying to pull the engine to do some work.

My 650SX bolts down to the motor mounts. It uses a bolt through the bed plate into the motor mount. Remove bolts, slide engine foward, lift out, np.

This X2 uses bolts on the motor mounts. It has threaded bolts attached to the motor mount that go through the bed plate and a nut just holds it down. Well, I remove those nuts but because of the bolts the engine can't slide forward. The engine is hooked to the drive shaft so I can't just lift it over the bolts.

I took out all 8 bolts that hold down the motor mounts but the motor mounts have pins. I can't just slide the engine and the mounts foward together because the pins are still holding them in place.

WTF? How do I get it out? :1zhelp:

I thought I was doing it wrong. Didn't want to break anything else.

Stop yelling at me!

See, i just shouldn't second guess myself. I was doing it right. I'll just continue where I left off.

Um, 5 X2's and 2 SXs, so 7 parts skis.

I cut up a 400 yesteray. Pool old ski. I really had too much fun being destructive... scary kind of.

soooo, you want to donate one of those x-2's?.....

I have to try to sell the parts on them to offset the cost of the parts I am going to use. I paid more than I should have because I could sell the parts and have a really good deal in the long run. Eventually I'll get rid of an X2 hull or 4 once I use what I need.

Pull the pump and push the driveshaft back, then you can go straight up.

That sounds better than forcing flexion on the shaft and bearing housing trying to get the mounts out of the way.

I'll do it that way. Good advice.

Don't mix up motor mount bolt with bed plate to motor bolts, one is fine thread and one isn't. And I still can't figure out why you didn't leave the mounts in the hull and took the bolts from the top of the bed plate.

And I still can't figure out why you didn't leave the mounts in the hull and took the bolts from the top of the bed plate.

Because there are no bolts holding the bed plate down. The motor mounts have a bolt stick up. THe engine slides over the bolts and then a nut holds it down. This is unlike what you have where you have a flat motor mount and drive a bolt into the motor mount.

I don't have to worry about confusing the motor mount bolts with the bed plate bolts. The motor mounts are held to the hull with a 12mm bolt. The bed plate is held to the motor mount with a 15mm nut. Even if I can't figure out which size... if I can't tell the difference b/t a nut and a bolt... I need not hold a wrench.

2nd Nature is looking for a hull also, think he is in Georgia.

I wont be getting rid of any of the hulls quite yet. I'll post when I'm ready. The primary task is to get the engine and electronics in good order. I want back on the water!! Then I'm going to give the X2 a test ride. The engine will actually go into my 650SX for now. I don't think I want a X2 over a stand up, but my buddy think he wants a X2. I'm going to build it for him, and if he likes it, I'll give him a hull and he'll be looking for a 750. :bigok:

Um mike , just in case that was lippy( which I don't think it was) respect who you are talking to there. Pete(legdragger) is my personal x2 rider idol! you may know him from any x2 video where something awesome is going off! like a flatwater barrel roll.

also less talk- more work! is it done yet?:261:

No worries I didn't take it that way. Can you post a picture of this? I have never seen this motor mount system before. There was a lot of bizzar stuff available back in the day. I am sure I haven't seen it all yet.

No, It's not done yet. My co-worker asked me to cover and I'm a nice guy. Also been trying to do some school work, final monday.

Here's a pic. I can take another after the engine is out. As you can see, the motor mount is sticking up through the bed plate, which is very stupid.

I will be replacing the motor mounts, lol.

Looks like someone ran bolts up through the bottom of stock mounts to make studs.

You are correct.

Engine is out! Now I have to figure out what I am going to do with it. I don't know chit, and I don't want to pay someone to do the work for me. I bought the manual.

I think I'm going to try to keep the flywheel and stator that's in it, in it, and hook up my electronics at the bullet connectors. Bolt on my 44mm Mikuni and intake, and bolt on my entire exhaust. Trouble shoot, then upgrade to the westcoast exhaust system I have.

I guess I can post in the build thread and you all can give me some pointers?
