If you don't want to ( or are unable to) reinforce your hull, what makes you think you're going to completely dissasemble the ski to build a XFT ski? ( not to mention the appox. $8000 expense for a hull, and $40,000 for the EME )

My suggestion is to get your hands dirty, or pay someone who knows what they are doing to do the work for you.

40k he must sell one or two a year thats a little much,
rather use it to pay my house payment. 5k
I need to move to MI where i can get a house then I will have the cash for a hull.
I think it would be the worst decision ever to buy a hull or a jet ski for 40k thats more than a benz and im sure everyone on here would not even take it on waves if it was that price . plus it would get stolen quick. lol

so does this eric malone have a lease program...

anyways just my 2 cents on the whole money issue not everyone can afford this
stuff its a weekend hobby not a career, or a benz,

reinforcement is a cheaper alternative, but for example can i get a hull ready to go lightweight for surf under 3k if so what brand,, be helpful not start fights or 80 pages of bs

Wamilton's hull kit for $3995 is the least expensive that I can think of. It's a lot cheaper to reinforce the hull you have.

sounds like you should just ride it...all you have to pay for is gas and oil..than when it gets boring start buying parts piece by piece....they all come with the basic instrutions and since your a mechanic you shouldn't have any problems:popcorn4:

ride it and repair what breaks. unless you are doing some REALLY hardcore stuff i wouldent do anything. thats just My opinion. thats all i do, but then again i live on a lake not the ocean. but i still get the storm waves and massive boats. ive even had some couch friends crash into me and shes still looking great :)

if your gunna do it just go to the auto store or marina and get the right stuff... do it right the 1st time. ive made the mistake of short cuting it way to many times... just get a gallon of resin and alot of cloth and call it a day.

i used progresively wider layers of 8.9 oz biaxiale cloth. filled bond line with epoxy resin/hardener mixed with micro balloons. then covered the bond line with a 3" wide strip of cloth. then covered that with a 6" wide strip of cloth, then covered the entire side, from hood seal lip to bottom with a sheet.

I would be weary of kevlar. while it is strong, it also absorbs water and will wic water throughout.

frosty... compare the weight of Erics ski compared to say newmans.. ive never felt yours but newmans is soo heavy it feels compared to say erics. eric = CF newman=fiberglass whats ur opinion

Newmans feels heavy to me... mine feels much lighter. I did not get to check our Eric's ski, but i want to next time out.

CF is cool... CK i would be careful of.

see whats crazy is erics hull is all reinforced and it feels the same weight as myn. maybe even less. newmans ...god.heavy.. but his ski has to be bullet proof now :p

i didn't like riding his ski... felt heavy to me, and he's got everything i have except a port job.

not when you see the reinforcement job on our buddys ski.. the ENTIRE inside of the ski is coated a couple times in glass and resin. its so much heavyier... now we are comparing dry weight from a day we were loading them into our other friends truck
