Handlebar Degree

I'm in the marked for new bars and was wondering what people peferred, the 0 degree or the 4 degree. Does anyone know what degree stock SXR bars are?

As far as UMI bars go I like the 4s way better than 0. The first time I rode with a set of 0s it felt like they where actually 1 or 2 degrees in the opposite direction (felt really weird) I rode another set just to make sure those wherent bent and they felt the same. I am now running Xmetal bars (just a straight bar) and can deffinitly say those UMIs where not at 0*. Anybody else?

thanks for all the input...not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm only 5' 7" so it makes me a little worried to go with the 0 thinking it might feel like too much of a stretch

Is your handlepole still standard length? I can't see going from 7 degrees to 0 degrees being too much of a stretch. I run a -3 pole and 0 degree bars and I'm 5' 9". I may go shorter by getting a lower bracket and a shortened turnplate.

I also like 4 degree umi. I'm running the new star bar 3 degree bars on my surf boat and really like them. The star bars are also 1inch longer than the umi.

I'm running a stock SXR pole. I think I might go with the 4* first and give it a try. On the blowsion site it looks like all you can get is extended length, is that how they are offered or are there also standard length?

I ran 4 degree for years, installed a set of 0 degree on the SXR in 04, and like them, then installed XMetal on the FS ski (SJ) later that year........ last year I got to borrow a Limited SXR from YamaCat to go race at Lake Norman, it had my old 4 degree bars on it.... I could not ride that ski to save my life, hated the 4 degree bars, made me feel to relaxed and not enough input on the steering......

but, it is personal preference.

Ahhh. I'm 5 9" and running a -3 cut stocker. I love it when riding surf stance, but when I am in the footholds I sometimes wish the pole was a bit longer. Doesn't matter, I busted the stocker(pole and bracket) for the second time, so I am buying a -2 and if eventually I need to shorten it up, I'll go with the 'Yamanube straight bar mod'.

I dislike bars that arn't 0. I do like the Xmetal or WDK setups that are truly 0 degrees, just a stright tube of alum.

UMI bars are decent. XMetal will give you 0 degrees and more width.

Its personal preference.
